Forcing Salvatore Moretti to marry me at gunpoint isn’t the craziest thing I’ve ever done…

I hate being desperate, being scared. It’s a filthy, helpless feeling. I’d much rather be enraged, violent… unhinged.

Salvatore watches me dance and calls me Angioletto, his little angel. He doesn’t know the demons that haunt me. He’s too blinded by my beauty to see the blood on my hands. Then again, he’s a mafia capo, so maybe the blood wouldn’t bother him anyway.

My past is like fire licking at my heels, ready to consume me. But Sal won’t let that happen, he’ll protect me. He has to.

I learned a long time ago not to trust anyone but myself. It’s dangerous the way he manages to unravel all of my defenses and turn me from a guarded Dom into the submissive brat I’ve never felt safe enough to be. It’s terrifying the way I’m starting to crave him.

I wasn’t sure I would live long enough to worry about this marriage starting to feel real, but this well-dressed mafioso might just manage to save my life after all. We can argue about divorce once the threat is neutralized I suppose. And in the meantime, he is my husband, I might as well enjoy the perks…

REVIEW:

Note:  This is the third in a series and has some spoilers for the first two books.

This newest book in the series brings Salvatore and Dante, a dancer at one of the Moretti’s nightclubs, together.  Sal has had it bad for Dante ever since he started working at the club.  Make no mistake, Dante is definitely a hottie – and he’s no ones plaything to trifle with.  He’s caused bodily injury to anyone who doesn’t follow club rules and thinks they can touch him.  Um, no.  Dante has taken care of himself for a long time.  In fact he’s taken care of a lot of things and taken out the trash also 😉

However, someone has reached out to Dante.  Someone that he he put in jail is threatening him.  From jail.  And now Dante needs protection.  So he decides that he will force Sal Moretti to marry him.  The Moretti family doesn’t play around.  Dante figures being married to the mob will give him some breathing room.  He hatches a plan to make it happen.  Sal surprisingly plays along with Dante’s plan.  But he has his own demands 😉 And this will be a “real” marriage in his mind – because it’s what he’s wanted all along.

Of course when they get back from this “wedding”, the whole family is on board to help figure out who is coming for Dante.  This ties into a larger arc in this series.  (No spoilers here)  Dante realizes that Sal is not just his protector, but they really are a good team and he cares more for Sal than he ever thought he could for anyone.  Oh, and his revenge is sweet too 😉

I really enjoy this series!  The Morettis are hilarious.  I loved Luca so much! I hope he gets an HEA.  I also am very intrigued by the Enzo and Declan cat and mouse game (see what I did there?).  The revenge was sweet and I loved how Dante wasn’t afraid to stand up and fight for himself – and he bagged himself a Moretti husband to boot!

Nick J. Russo and Declan Winters did their usual stellar work in performing this story.  Russo’s Dante is a firecracker!  He may look sweet, but this kitten has claws!  Mr. Winter’s Sal is the broody, badass but soft for Dante mobster who goes with the flow.  Their banter and sarcasm is first rate.  I so love these two narrators and getting a twofer with this series is “chef’s kiss”.  Highly recommended
