Cal Hunter didn’t hate Jack Grayson the moment he met him. He actually kind of liked the arrogant great white shark shifter . . . until Jack left Cal zip-tied to a bed and stole Cal’s job. Now, every time their paths cross, things get heated, and they both have the scars to prove it.
Jack has always worked better alone, but there is something about Cal he can’t get out of his system. So it shouldn’t be a problem when they are forced to work together to figure out who is after one of the most famous pieces of stolen art in the world.
But both men are keeping secrets that compromise their mission, and when Jack’s life is threatened, Cal has to decide if holding on to his own secrets is worth it. Turns out fate has one hell of a sense of humor.
REVIEW:
First of all, I’d just like to say how much fun this series is so far.
Cal is an orca shifter who has met his fated mate. The problem is, he doesn’t think his mate even likes him. And may have tried to kill him once or twice. Being stuck working with Jack is the worst kind of torture.
Jack on the other hand, thinks he might be falling for Cal. But that would be bad, right? He’s got things that need to be done an love is definitely not one of them.
I love this banter in this story. The back and forth between the characters is amazing and I spent as much time laughing as I did on the edge of my seat.
And narrator Declan Winter’s is the perfect choice for this story. Everytime he says “Sweetheart” in that Australian accent, I remember why I wanted to visit down under so badly! His voice combined with the amazing story writing had me listening to this story until far later than is intelligent for someone who has to get up at 6:30 in the morning.
I love how we still get to see the connection between Cal and his brother Quinn. It’s equal parts happy and sad because of some of the things they are going through.
This plot line is so interesting and I love how we keep getting just enough information to wet our appetites and keep us strung along, while more and more questions about what’s going on in the art world and Cal’s family to keep the reader hooked.
Beware though, these books are ending on cliffhangers and I’m sure that will be the case until all the Hunter brother’s have found their fated mates. But that’s okay because that just means that there are more stories to love coming along.
The sex scenes are smokin hot and Declan Winter’s knows exactly how to ramp it up. If you don’t need a shower when you’re done, you aren’t paying enough attention, and that’s a crime!
This story is fun and thrilling at the same time, just what I like in a good book!
Can’t wait to see where book three takes us!
