AUTHORS: Lisa Henry & Sarah Honey
PUBLISHER: Self-published
LENGTH: 230 pages
RELEASE DATE: July 31, 2025
BLURB:
Danny Hall is terminally single. That’s not surprising, given that he lives in the tiny township of Goose Run, Virginia, and the only other gay guys he knows live with him in his grandma’s house and are like brothers to him. It probably also doesn’t help his dating prospects that he works at a gas station.
When a series of petty disputes with his awful neighbor escalates into a legal matter, Danny calls in a lawyer. But when Miller Clarke turns up on his doorstep, Danny finds himself chasing more than just legal advice.
Miller Clarke is used to dealing with minor claims and oddball cases. But tree law? That’s a new one. He can’t exactly be mad though, not when his new client Danny is super cute and just Miller’s type. But Miller only intends to stay in the area for long enough to gain some experience before establishing a real career in the city. He doesn’t have time for a relationship, no matter how tempted he is. Miller’s got big plans, and Danny Hall and Goose Run don’t fit in with them.
You know what they say. The course of tree—true love never did run smooth.
Welcome to Goose Run, a small town full of quirky characters, big personalities, and unexpected romances. Just don’t ask about the goose.
REVIEW:
Danny Hall lives a pretty simple life. He works at a gas station. He shares his grandmother’s house with 3 friends. His grandmother’s elderly neighbor, Harlan Whittaker, is none too impressed with how Danny and his housemates, twins Cash and Chase and their friend Wilder, keep the yard and house. He’s constantly calling Danny out every time he leaves the house now. Things have escalated and he’s actually knocked on the door to complain and frankly the guys can’t be bothered. Then Harlan steps over the line.
Danny and his friends are shocked by Harlan’s behavior. In fact, this now is going to turn into a legal matter. And next thing you know, Bobby, major of Goose Run and Danny’s boss has called in a favor and gotten Danny a lawyer. Miller Clarke is starting out in a small town law office, but he’s got big plans. He’s going to get experience and then move on to the big city. He’s assigned this pro bono case by his boss and he takes along his intern, Marty O’Brien to meet with Danny at his house to discuss the particulars.
Danny is immediately impressed and attracted to his new lawyer 😉 Miller is trying to play things cool, but Danny’s friends notice the spark in Miller too. However, Danny doesn’t seem to have his act together too much and they are going to try to have to figure out how to proceed. Danny doesn’t want to upset his grandmother who lives in a senior home, but he’s going to have to let her know what’s going on at some point in the not too distant future. In the meantime, he’s gonna flirt with his new lawyer and maybe arrange a hookup 😉 And it turns out their chemistry in the bedroom is FIRE! So maybe not just a hookup? Maybe more?
After meeting Danny’s grandmother and getting the casework started, Miller and Danny continue to see each other. This is the best sex of Danny’s life! It’s not like he has a lot of opportunity in Goose Run. Miller is exactly his type. But the harassment from Harlan continues and Danny and this friends are getting irritated about it too. Not to mention Jane, Danny’s grandmother is beyond pissed off. So Miller has free rein to go after the maximum settlement. But what about Danny and Miller? Will they have a settlement too? 😉
OMG! I loved this. If you loved the Alpha Tau series, you will thoroughly enjoy this. Marty O’Brien is even along for the ride! Miller and Danny are total opposites, but they work. There is plenty of the same low angst conflict and humor in this story that I adored in that other series. The small town of quirky folks is perfect for this story. Danny’s grandma? A HOOT!! There is a little sadness around the resolution and understanding about the why of the conflict here, but it’s also resolved pretty nicely. I loved Miller and Danny together. There are so many good lines in this book, I was chuckling all the way to laughing out loud. I can’t wait for the other guys stories. Highly recommended for the trademark humor and heart of this author duo!
