Full disclosure: Michael and Nick are two of my absolute favorite audiobook narrators. Luckily they are also stellar humans 🙂 I love that they are doing these shorter form romances now that are perfect to listen to when you don’t have time to devote 8-10 hours to an entire novel. This offering is the best of both worlds! Some of our favorite MM authors teaming up with favorite narrators to deliver a bundle of joy 😉
Shoot First, Kiss Later by Alice Winters, performed by Michael and Nick is a good intro to one style of Alice’s storytelling. Fans of a number of her series will recognize the trademark humor and outrageous characters in this story of two competing hitmen who discover their handler wants one to take out the other and then he in turn will be offed. Say what the what??? Milo is enraged and Shane is gobsmacked. I mean, he just started working for this guy. UGH! Well obviously they will have to team up and hold their handler to task 😉 It’s all fun and games until the hitmen get good and pissed off 😀
I loved this story and Nick and Michael played off each other brilliantly. Milo is hilarious and Shane is astounded at Milo and his shenanigans. All’s well that ends well though 😉
Saying, I Don’t by Nicky James is a serious story about two men who have been best friends since they were 16. Now North is getting married. This is a real problem for Everett, his best friend and best man since he has been in love with North forever. And North loves him too. But he’s got family obligations – a title, a company, and now an arranged marriage to a woman he doesn’t even know. But it’s for the benefit of both families. Everett is devastated that North would choose this over their love. Or will he?
This was a heartfelt and emotional story. North is caught between love and duty. His family couldn’t care less about what he wants, announcing an engagement that he had no knowledge of. He has always done what’s expected of him, but this may just be too much. Michael and Nick really mined the angst and heartbreak in this one. Very nicely done!
When I Had You is a reunited best friends to lovers story. Wylie has missed his best friend. But Ev left after a shared kiss and went off to do his thing as a photographer. Now he’s returned, much to Wylie’s surprise. He has no idea why. It turns out that Ev has figured out a few things about himself since he left town. For one, he likes both girls and guys 😉 and he especially likes his best friend Wylie that he’s missed all these years. Can they really make a go of it? Is Wylie dreaming, or is Ev really here for him?
Not my favorite of this bunch, but still a nice tale of friends to lovers, second chances and coming home again. Wylie doesn’t think he’s much, but clearly Ev has a different opinion. And he lets Wylie know that 🙂 Again, the narration is second to none. I love these dual narration and sound effects that are fully immersive in these stories.
I personally can’t wait to dive into this catalogue! New episodes are released weekly and their are always discounts and specials. If you’re looking for some shorter audios with quality content and voice acting talent, you might just find what you are looking for at Romantisodes 😀
