REVIEW:
This story picks up where the previous one left off, with the guys at Redcars garage still struggling to deal with Robbie’s past and help him heal. Jamie is one of the ex-cons that was given a second chance at Redcars. He has quite the past and issues from it he deals with to this day. Thankfully, he has his best friend and roommate, Rio, to help ground him and keep him in check. But Rio has issues of his own and isn’t always able to see the signs quickly enough. In order to deal with his trauma-induced mental issues, he starts fires. To control that urge, he finds other outlets. He seems to have found another one in Killian.
Killian is an attorney, or that’s his front anyway. He was also taken in by Redcars a few years back, but he now has a different mission. What he shows the world hides both his past and his current team of “operatives” who have made it their mission to take down bad guys the official way. They gather enough info on someone and then leak it at the appropriate time, all the while, Killian is on the outside acting like the straight and narrow attorney. On their list are the people who were behind the abduction and torture of Robbie.
Killian and Jamie should not even be near each other given their current statuses, but they are drawn together with something other than them both chasing the same evil people. Killian provides Jamie an outlet through dominating and rough sex which Jamie finds he not only craves but which actually calms the voices in his head. They are so bad for each other, yet so good at the same time. This leads to some pretty hot scenes in more ways than one. When Jamie doesn’t have access to Killian, things get a little dicey and Jamie almost jeopardizes everything.
I really enjoyed this installment. I loved seeing Enzo and Robbie still doing so well, even if Robbie still has some understandable setbacks here and there. It was also nice that Robbie was able to take a more hands-on approach to the mission. Killian’s team are interesting characters as well and we get to see more of them doing their thing in this one. Looks like more of the strings are unraveling for the next installment with finding a few more of the bad guys. Rio has a lot of his own issues and I’m really looking forward to seeing his story play out. And, it looks like we are even going to get a story about that cranky doc! I’m ready for more, so bring on the next book!
