Two hearts, one cabin: Can a quiet woodworker and a struggling author carve out a love story together?
Ryan Devlin loves his life in Caldwell Crossing. His career as a woodworker is fulfilling, and his close-knit group of friends are like brothers to him. Ryan is quiet and introverted and not interested in making changes to his life and his routines—not when he still struggles with memories of childhood bullying and feelings of inadequacy. But when his sister needs to relocate a short-stay guest because of a plumbing emergency at her rental house and asks to use Ryan’s cabin, how can he say no?
Adam Nelson comes to Caldwell Crossing to finish writing the latest book in his cozy murder mystery series—after the last one was trashed in a viral review. He needs peace and quiet and to be left undisturbed. So why can’t he stay away from the handsome woodworker whose workshop is next door to the gorgeous lakeside cabin he’s staying in?
As Ryan and Adam connect and their friendship shifts into something more, can they decide whether to trust their growing feelings and put their faith into the fate that brought them together?
Love Notes contains an introverted, dyslexic woodworker, a writer pretending to his agent that everything is under control, found family, best friends, and a cat with no name.
REVIEW:
I’m so happy Ryan has his story, where there were hints throughout the other books who would be his love interest of course, it was great to finally get his whole story.
You cannot not love Ryan and his protectiveness of his friends, his gentle soul, his insecurity. Bring in Adam, the hotshot very uncertain of himself author. A review brings him back to the roots of his stories, this little town where he has set his series in.
Finding more then the love for writing again and the connection with his characters, he also finds a gentle soul who is happiest in his wood workshop, who is a wonderful friend to his “brothers”, who offered his home to an author who has lost his mojo and seeks piece and quiet.
It is a wonderful journey to see Ryan and Adam giving into the attraction that is there. It is lovely to see their feelings grow over the pages of this story.
I just wish the story would have been a bit longer. Where in the book before this one, you found glimpses of the other relationships, this one felt as it started ane. I can imagine in the timeline but I guess I just would have loved a bit more with the friends hence my remark that I think it would have benefited a few more pages so to speak. I would have loved to have read mpre with all of them being together. It kind of ended kind of quickly and a bit rushed in my opinion.
This obviously is personal and doesn’t reflect on my rating or enjoyment of reading this story and this whole series.
Like I mentioned before I still loved Ryan and Adam coming together the addition of a wonderful cat and snippets of situations that happened over time. (Shout out to Ben, go you for speaking up! )
Definitely recommend this book but most definitely the whole series for sure!
Who known perhaps we are lucky and one day these authors will return to this lovely town and their inhabitans.
