Houston… we have a problem.
Ezra Miller’s life has been turned upside down ever since his best friend hooked up with an alien named Al, and not just because he walked in on them having close encounters of the third kind. In the year since he discovered the truth about extraterrestrial life, Ezra has accidentally become the sole person the Darvrokian race trusts to act as Earth’s intergalactic representative, which is great and all, until he’s assigned a Darvrokian coworker plucked out of his worst nightmares.
Titan Leon is everything Ezra hates in a man. He’s arrogant, presumptuous, and worst of all, hot enough to make Ezra forget why he hates him in the first place.
Hot enough that “absolutely not” turns into “only this one time.”
Hot enough that Ezra can overlook the fact that he’s Al’s most disliked brother.
But one time isn’t enough for Titan, and he won’t take no for an answer.
He’ll do whatever it takes to make Ezra his.
And sure, he’s an asshole… but as much as Ezra hates him, he can’t help but see that there’s something softer about him lurking just beneath the surface. Something more than Titan lets anyone else see. And whatever that something is, it has its hooks in Ezra so deeply, he can’t help but fall into bed with him over and over again.
With the same sense of humor and earnestness as Crash-Landed in Love, Not Written in the Stars is a witty contemporary alien romance that explores the ideas of identity, belonging, and choosing your own path in life, while tackling tough questions like: how much sand is needed to fill a room in your mansion? Is $100 enough to tip your new friend, Uber driver Carlos G? And how many Slim Jims are customary to put into a gift basket?
Please note that while this story takes place on modern-day Earth… life finds a way.
REVIEW:
So when we last left our friends, Jude had laid eggs and there are now offspring that are half human, half Darvrakian. Ezra, who is Jude’s best friend and roommate and who barely batted an eye when his best friend hooked up with an alien, is now the ambassador and in charge of Human/Darvrakian relations. But at Jude and Al’s bonding ceremony, he hooks up with Titan, Al’s brother who has always lorded every mistake Al has ever made over him. He’s the “favorite son” of the Leon’s and he is a total jerk. Ezra dislikes him on general principal as well as for how he behaves in his less than subtle superior way. He wants nothing to do with this guy. And yet. Titan’s human disguise is definitely droolworthy. It will only be this one time. He will be honest with how much he dislikes Titan and nobody has to know. Besides, it’s not like he’s going to be seeing the guy again. He’s got his stuff to do on his planet and Ezra will be on earth.
Famous last words.
Things are getting busy with the relationship between the two worlds and so Titan is tagged to serve WITH Ezra. Uh-oh. This is NOT good. Especially when he ends up staying with him in a house on Al and Jude’s compound. Titan is determined to win Ezra. Ezra is determined to avoid Titan. Ha! Titan realizes he’s in over his head and asks Ezra and Jude’s other best friend for advice 😉
When Titan actually takes Corbin’s advice, Ezra begins to see him in a new light. And then certain other things happen that mean they can’t just avoid each other. And secret are reveals. And surprises happen 🙂 And families ties become messy. But you know what? Ezra and Titan are meant to be.
So I really loved the first book in this series and I wasn’t sure how it could be topped. But honestly? This was hilarious and sweet and filled with so many relatable moments that I think I might love it even more! First, there is a redemption arc here for Titan that is believable. He doesn’t get everything right. He struggles with relearning how to behave and treat others. He has to seek forgiveness and he has to learn to stand up for himself, his brother and his man 🙂 Then there is Ezra. Even though he has been the most chill of guys, it turns out he’s got a lot on his mind under that laidback exterior. Mostly he has focused on his experience that nobody stays. Ergo, he must not be worth staying FOR. But he couldn’t be more wrong. And turns out that maybe the leaving him behind? Not really a choice.
The surprises in this one are from left field and I’m not going to spoil them. Let’s just say that there is some sort of hate sex?? Maybe? And that Ezra cannot stay away from Titan, no matter how hard he tries. He feels terrible about what he’s doing and especially guilty about what feels like a betrayal to his friend Al, his best friend’s mate, with his douchebag of a brother. Why why why can he not just let this go? Just get Titan out of his system and go on with this life. But when Titan really seems to be trying to connect with Ezra, well now he’s really in trouble. He sees something else in Titan and he likes it. A lot. It turns out that Titan and Ezra both learn a lot about themselves 🙂 They are better together and nobody is going to break them apart. Highly recommended 😀
Michael Ferraiuolo. What can I say? This was hilarious! I loved the alien voices. I loved Kyle so much 😉 and Corbin. And Jude and Ezra and Al and Titan. The Leons! Sheer brilliance. The story and narrator are a perfect match in this series. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. What a joy to listen to this bizarrely sweet and funny romance. My favorite narrator and this is why. So well done!
