The last thing Connor O’Shea needs is more complications …
After too much celebrating at his brother’s wedding, Connor wakes up next to cocky Toronto goaltender Jesse Webber—pro hockey’s reigning f*ckboy. With three kids and a failed marriage under his belt, Connor might be ready to admit he’s attracted to men, but that doesn’t mean his life has to change.
Fate has other plans: Jesse’s been traded to the Boston Harriers, the team Connor captains.
With an intimidating family legacy to live up to, pressure from ownership to bring home another Cup, and a strained relationship with his ex-wife to juggle, Connor reluctantly agrees to let Jesse stay at his place for the season—strictly to keep him in line.
Rules are set, boundaries are clear. But Jesse’s never met a rule he couldn’t break.
Between winning over Connor’s kids, rallying the team, and sneaking past Connor’s defenses, Jesse is determined to prove he’s more than just trouble.
But can he show Connor there’s more to life than playing it safe?

REVIEW:
Oh I’m so happy for this new Brigham Vaughn hockey series!
Jesse Webber is a character from a previous series, #Relationship Goals as the backup goalie. At a wedding for Connor O’Shea’s, captain of the Boston team, brother and they end up hooking up. And they wake up to the news that Jesse has been traded to Boston after all the shenanigans that he pulled that summer after winning the cup. Ooops. Connor is NOT amused. And now HE is going to be the one to have to run herd on Jesse and his antics. Boston needs Jesse and they need him to focus and play good hockey. Not be the party boy of the Boston team.
Connor O’Shea who was born into an NHL dynasty. He’s the latest O’Shea to be captain of the Boston Harriers. He’s gone through a difficult divorce and he’s missed a lot with his kids. He’s got a lot of guilt. He’s also not acted on his bisexuality until Jesse. But things get really complicated when the manager suggests that Jesse should live with Connor so that he can keep an eye on him and make sure he’s focused on his career and toeing the line.
Connor is definitely keeping Jesse in line 😉 But their friends with benefits situation has a lot of complications. Like his kids. And thin hotel walls on road trips 😉 And almost hooking up in bathrooms. But Connor has a LOT he’s still processing. He’s lived his whole life doing what everyone else wanted him to do – from getting married and having kids and playing hockey in Boston. Both he and his ex-wife also came from conservative religious traditions which has also added to the guilt and judgement about LGBTQ individuals and “lifestyles”. But Connor can’t resist Jesse 😉
They have a lot to consider here. Their careers could be in jeopardy if they get caught. And Connor’s family knowing he’s not only bi but hooking up with a guy? How is that going to go over. His ex-wife knows, but she definitely wasn’t accepting and blamed Connor for their divorce.
I kind of don’t want to spoil some of the other revelations in this story, but suffice to say that others end up living their truth as well. And Jesse and Connor both take important steps in their relationship together and here’s to a long and happy relationship 🙂
Love Captain Growly 😉 And his Chaos Demon 😀 This story is told from dual POVs which I appreciated given how complicated Connor’s relationship ship is with, well, a lot of things. Jesse is a bubbly presence in Connor’s life. Connor hasn’t lived his own life at all. Jesse is there to help him accept and explore. He’s also great with Connor’s kids. Jesse is a fun guy but he’s finally focused in a way that mean’s he’s playing great hockey too! These two were fire! Jesse is happy to help Connor discover all the things he’s been missing 😉 The religious aspects were my least favorite, but this is reality.
I love this narrator! James Edward Jones did a fabulous job with all these characters. The Boston access was definitely recognizable 😉 I’m looking forward to a long and fun collaboration between this author and narrator. Quickly becoming my favorite hockey romance storytellers 😀 Recommended!
