BLURB:

Rory “Bronx” Alauson and his personal security guard, Tony Cavalari have a bit of an interesting history together. They first met when Bronx was a troubled man in his early twenties and Cavalari was an officer on the NYC police force. Numerous run-ins caused a heavy animosity to form between them – one that didn’t improve with the passage of time.

Fast forward a decade and Bronx has cleaned up his life. He’s living on the west coast and is the new bass player for the infamous rock band, Black Ice. After a few minor security breaches, Black Ice’s management company brings on an additional team of guards to shadow each member. Bronx isn’t happy about this but he hates the intrusion to his personal life even more when he sees who his new guard is – none other than his nemesis, Tony Cavalari.

The sparks are immediate, even though they ignore the chemical reaction and pour their energy into bickering and name-calling. It’s impossible to ignore someone when you’re forced into close proximity with them on a daily basis and with the heat building it’s only a matter of time before it spills over.

The guys in Black Ice are demanding they work out their differences. How can that be accomplished when throwing punches isn’t the way they want to settle their animosity. Their minds are focused on a completely different way to use their hands on the other.

Where there’s sparks you’ll find flames and for those closest to Bronx and Cavalari they can only hope the entire band isn’t consumed by the fire when it explodes into the inferno it’s destined to be.

REVIEW:

I have loved Ann Lister’s Rock Gods and all their bodyguards since I read my first Rock God book and was addicted to them.

Bronx is so tired of Tony Cavalari and Fizzbo riding him about security. He has been clean and sober for years and can drive himself over to Dagger’s but “Calamari”, Fizzbo and Dagger won’t budge an inch. Sometimes a guy just needs a moment of peace and quite. Hell, he can’t even stand in his own freaking bedroom without “Cappelletti” accusing him of jacking off! But, when a mix-up occurs when heading out on promotions for the Las Vegas Residency, Tony and Bronx wind up stuck together alone and  things heat up.  And when a simple accident, while wrestling in the bus,  turns extremely life threatening these men learn what’s real and true. And who has their back and their heart!

Tony and Bronx/Rory both needed to grow up and be the professional adults they were now. The name calling got old. I questioned several times why both Dagger and Fizzbo thought it was the best idea to keep these two together when Rex and Bronx worked well. But in true Ann Lister fashion, she showed me the error to my thoughts! They really were the perfect match of love and a bit of antagonists that simply worked.

As you know, I love series and getting to follow the men in those books. The Rock Gods and the heroic men that protect them hooked me immediately. I love how this series grew to have some of Fizzbo’s men fall for the superstars they protected. So having our final rocker fall for his bodyguard was a surprise to me because I truly thought that they hated each other when this began. Hearing Bronx and Cavalari’s back story made total sense why they did until you get to the real root of that back story and how their interactions changed and molded who they both were and how they moved forward differently in their younger lives after those interactions. I doubt that Bronx would have survived his twenties, let alone became a part of Black Ice, if it wasn’t for Cavalari’s presence in his life. The path that young Rory (Bronx’s real name) was on would have lead to his death eventually. Cavalari’s multiple times he arrested Rory finally lead him to rehab and a decent chance at life. And Rory opened Cavalari eyes to whom he was truly attracted to during those many arrests.

That being all said, I will admit first of all, how thankful I am that Ann was able to finish up this series. We needed the final member of the two Rock Band (Black Ice and Ivory Tower) to get his HEA too. However, I am broken hearted that this sounds like the last time that I will be experiencing touring with Ann’s rockers and Ventura Security. I know that I get to see glimpses of them with TL Travis’s Rock Bands but I am finally realizing that this is the end of this dynasty and it’s hard to comprehend not looking forward to more time with these amazing musicians and the men that love them. It has truly been an epic journey to have been included on and I will sincerely miss looking forward to more.

This is an amazing series and this final book is a tribute to it. I loved all this books and can’t recommend this series enough! HUGE Thumbs up from me.
