SERIES: In Love Book 1
AUTHOR: Alexa Piper
PUBLISHER: Self Published
LENGTH: 206 Pages
RELEASE DATE: May 16,2025
BLURB:
Mike is a siren with a law degree, and he’s straddled his supernatural heritage and living among humans for years without a hitch. Yet, dating a human is a first for Mike.
Corvin is bookish, cute, irresistible. It doesn’t take long before Mike knows he wants to share all his melodies with him. And it should be that easy, except the good things in life rarely are.
Siren in Love contains some gore, minimal decapitation, a hangry vampire boss, and books. So many books.
(Note: this book was previously published as Siren’s Love Song. The story has been expanded on for it’s re-release.)
REVIEW:
I grabbed this book because I liked the premise. I love supernatural stories and so I took a chance.
Mike is sweet and cute and very likable. He is very protective of Corvin right from the start and it was something I enjoyed very much.
Corvin is even more sweet and cute, and a little bit of a himbo. He’s kind and fun, a little dumb, but in a courageous way. This is a guy who doesn’t know how to save himself, except by accident. It’s a good thing Mike came along! Also pretty okay.
I would like to point out that I can see where this story was trying to go. The author was trying hard for snark and sass and humor, especially where Peter was concerned. And it mostly worked but in some places it was really trying too hard.
There’s going to be a lot of people who enjoy it, especially those who like the low angst stories, and that’s okay, but for me it kinda dragged in places and I found myself rolling my eyes a couple of times. There wasn’t enough salt to balance the sweet,
What I did like was Mike. He was a great character and I appreciate the work the author did on developing him. I liked Peter too. He actually reminded me a little of Peter from Teen Wolf. He had the potential to be evil but used it for good sometimes.
I liked the world building, the references to other supernatural beings that we don’t actually get to meet, but know they are there. I like the lore as well, it was well done.
The steamy scenes were pretty good too, as any good supernatural sexy times should be.
All in all, it was enjoyable but not spectacular. A nice read, but I’ll be honest and admit it’s just not my style of story, so that could be coloring my opinion.
