What happens when fate intertwines shifters from land and sea?
Dante Perez knows what it’s like to be an omega in an alpha’s world. He’s fought to make his company one of the best, and when he gets the opportunity to sponsor the summer’s air and water show circuit, he’s not going to let anything stand in his way, especially not alpha flyboy Dominic Pavone. Or his inconvenient attraction to the irritating man.
For Dominic, being a stunt pilot for the summer is usually the best part of his year. Until Dante ruins everything by traveling with the show. Now Dom can’t escape Dante no matter how hard he tries . . . and maybe he’s not trying all that hard.
When a hotel mix-up leaves Dante and Dominic sharing a room, the sparks that normally fly between them turn into flames of a different kind—the type that set the sheets on fire, and both men realize there is more between them. A lot more.
As summer and their arrangement comes to an end, a surprise changes everything they thought they knew about each other, but maybe a new beginning—the kind that leads to forever—is exactly what Dom and Dante need.
Contains mature themes.
REVIEW:
In the last book in this series, Dominic Pavone asks his boss, Dante Perez to use his private plane to fly Everett and Merritt (and Dom) to Florida to help in an emergency. Dom is a pilot who flies shoes for Dante’s company. They continually nitpick and get under each other’s skin. Dom always assumes the worst of motives with anything Dante does. Dante enjoys keeping Dom off balance and then showing him that he is entirely wrong 😉
As the summer wears on, Dante’s annoyed that his heat (which lasts 3 months) is going to be even harder than usual to get through. He keeps running into Dom places though. Dom doesn’t know why he’s suddenly protective of Dante, but he is. Hmmm. When a friend of Dom’s tells them they are mates, they both laugh it off and then avoid each other. They work together every day though, so avoidance becomes impossible.
When Dante’s heat cycle seems to be getting the best of him, Dante volunteers to help. Of course he does. And then things get really interesting. Dante begins acting totally out of character. And also a little bit sickly. What is going to happen when this summer and heat cycle are over??
In the end, the pull between these two is what makes this a really engaging story. They were drawn to each other and Dom’s attempts to always portray Dante as the a$$hole were definitely a prelude to a very different relationship. There is a bit of enemies to lovers vibe here – although they were never truly enemies. Both liked to wind the other up for kicks in fact. There is a lot of UST and banter and when they actually got together, SO MUCH STEAM. Both men have a great support network in friends and family but neither has found exactly what they are looking for. Once they realize what is really going on between them, well things got very sweet 😉 I loved how Dom was ready to take on Dante’s ex who clearly was awful. And manipulative. The way Dom realized that he would do what it takes to protect and care of Dante was a bit of a wake-up call for him. Dante has spent his life fighting omega prejudice and prove that he has what it takes to be a successful CEO. I really don’t want to spoil the story, so I am not going to elaborate on what happens in the last third of the book except to say it is sweet and sexy and romantic and new to this series of fated mates 😀 There is a slight overlap with the second book in this series and of course we get to see Jonah and and Everett and Merritt again too 🙂 In fact quite a bit of them! The ending is delightful and I can’t wait for the next book 😀 This is a super fun series and each book brings a new twist to this unique shifter world.
Declan Winters puts the steam in steamy in this one. There is a LOT of sex here – given the months long heat cycle of the dolphin shifter. Dom and Dante are hilarious so many times together. That humor is a great offset to the tension and Mr. Winters does an excellent job of finding the balance with this performance. The consistency in all of the voices and choices if spot on. There are so many sweet and tender moments too that will just have your heart melting. Another winner in this series. Recommended!
