Beckett Gray is a broken man. He’s going through the motions of life ever since his husband was taken from him five years ago. He doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but when strange things begin to happen in his home, he’s forced to admit something paranormal may be going on.
Karson Raycroft left this realm before his time because of a hit and run driver. Is he now reaching out to his husband, encouraging Beck to find love again and move on with his life?
On the verge of losing what little is left of his sanity, Beck hires medium Travis Watson to rid his home of whatever (or whoever) is causing the disturbances. But Travis may have his own demons that need exorcising before he can help Beck. Can Kar convince Beck and Travis that new love is possible together?
Footprints on My Heart is a contemporary ghost story about two older guys finding love after tragedy, thanks to a matchmaking spirit.
REVIEW:
I am so excited to see RJ expand into the paranormal genre. This story is fun, sad, sweet, no angst, and ghost friendly. I loved this story so much. Definitely one of RJ’s palate cleanser stories.
This story has great world building. RJ seamlessly melds the human world with the ghostly world as he leans heavily into creating an environment for Karson to interact with Beckett and Travis, while building a world for Beckett and Travis to find each other.
Another wonderful example of RJ’s creative, in depth, nuanced approach to his characters. In this book we have three main characters and several side characters. We have Beckett, a pharmacist, and Travis, the medium, who are obviously the main characters. But we also have Karson, who is an integral part of this plot and is definitely a ghostly main character. We have Val and Joseph, who are extra special side characters. RJ just doesn’t skimp on the details he imbues all the characters with. Who doesn’t love a ghost trying to play match maker from beyond the grave.
Once again RJ shows his depth and skill in tackling a new genre. Paranormal stories can be hit or miss with me, and I must exclaim from the rooftops that this book is a great combination of sweet romance and ghostly interaction.
He stood near the dresser, closed his eyes, and held his hand out, palm facing the ring as if trying to feel something from it. “Yes,” he whispered. “There’s definitely someone here.”
“Is it—”
“Shhh. Don’t say anything, please,” he said quietly. “Karson Raycroft, are you here?” he called in a strong voice. Travis looked around the room as if searching for someone. At one point he stopped and stared, then continued to take in the entire space.
At first nothing happened. Then, after a minute or two, the ring moved about two inches to the left.
“How…” I started, my mouth agape.
“Karson,” Travis said again. “Is that you?”
I felt a breeze move past me, as if someone walked by quickly.
Travis turned to me. “He’s gone. But before he left, I heard something in my head. A faint voice said ‘yes.’ I believe it was Karson, but he sounded very tired.”
If you’re a fan of not only paranormal stories, but RJ Peterson’s as well, I highly recommend you run to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab this one up before it disappears. Especially if you want to see if Beckett and Travis get their happily ever after. I can’t wait for the next book RJ has for us.
Till next time…
