Nero Hunter is tired. He’s tired of early mornings chasing down skips. He’s tired of Shamu jokes and dealing with idiots. He’s tired of being alone. But agreeing to do one little favor for a friend turns the tide and brings Nero face-to-face with his destiny.
Felix White is unlucky. When his life is threatened and he’s hauled into police custody for safekeeping, the last thing he expects is to meet his fated mate. Especially when his mate is a giant killer whale shifter, who is also his new bodyguard.
But there is more to the plot against Felix than meets the eye, and Nero and his brothers have to work together to figure out who is after Felix before it’s too late . . . before Nero loses the mate he just found.
REVIEW:
This story was so fun to listen to!
Nero feels like there’s something missing from his life, and he’s knows it’s someone to love. Living with your brother’s is only so fulfilling and so when he walks into a room and finds Felix, he thinks that may life has decided to be nice to him for once.
Felix is just trying to live a decent life after getting caught up in something that could have ended badly. When Nero walks in, he literally takes Felix’s breath away.
These two guys are so damn cute together. One thing that I love about fated mate stories is that it lets me get lost in the story without getting annoyed about the lack of time that’s put into the getting to know each other part of the story.
Nero’s relationship with his brothers is part of the fun. The author does a great job of showing that you don’t always like family even when you love them. The bickering and sniping at each other is hilarious but the love they have for each other and the lengths they will go to for each other are endless. I know this is book one, so I am really hoping to see what happens when fate comes for each of them.
The background story for Nero and his family is interesting and unique and it really helped me get carried away in the story.
Felix is fun and smart and sweet, except when he goes against his best interests in he enthusiasm to work things out. Its a good thing he has the Hunter brother to cover his back.
The narrator, Declan Winter’s, is a favorite of mine and he was a perfect choice for this story. He’s fantastic at accents and giving each character a unique voice. I’m pretty sure I could listen to him read the phone book and I’d love it.
This isn’t the perfect story. There are times I felt like the plot was being rushed and could have used a little more time to really build the suspense, but all in all, it was pretty darn good. The sex was steamy and well written and I loved that it didn’t take over the whole story!
I loved the premise, it had great character development and while it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, it is indeed a complete story.
I am very much looking forward to book 2. I hope it’s about Cal and Jack because I have a feeling it’s going to be very spicy!
