BLURB:
An island escape.
A stranger with secrets.
A love that could change everything.
Burned out and creatively blocked, I flee to a friend’s bungalow on the sun-drenched shores of Bora-Bora. I’m chasing peace, inspiration…
What I don’t expect is him.
Nick is quiet, intense, devastatingly handsome—and completely unreadable. There’s something about him, something just beneath the surface. We collide like a storm and fall fast into something wild and breathless. Days blur into nights filled with laughter, longing, and kisses that taste like forever.
But paradise is never what it seems.
Because Nick isn’t just any man hiding out in paradise. He’s trying to outrun his destiny, and that world is about to drag him back.
When he disappears without warning, I’m left with a heart in pieces.
When I learn the truth, I’m left with a choice: walk away or fight for a love Nick’s world says I can’t have.
Nick was never supposed to fall in love.
I was never supposed to find out who he really is.
But fate doesn’t follow rules—and neither does love.
REVIEW:
Another fantastic read from K.C. Wells. K.C. is a truly versatile author. She can go from erotica to murder mysteries to sweet, yet hot romances, in what seems the blink of an eye. She just seamlessly switches from one genre to the next.
This story, Duty and Desire, is a sweet, yet hot romance. With a bit of intrigue thrown in for good measure. The world building is top notch, as I have come to expect from K.C. She takes on an adventure, starting in San Francisco, vacationing in Bora-Bora, to Eisenland – Nick’s homeland. She has picked some of the most scenic places for the backdrop of this beautiful story.
Her character building is detailed and nuanced. It’s also not limited to the main characters. It’s one of the things I like the most about K.C.’s writing, she never skimps on the details. All of her characters are fully fleshed out and you either love them or you don’t. I have a list… LOL.
I’m always so impressed with her level of research, even when you would guess that this story is a sweet low angst romance. But you would be wrong. My guess is that she does even more research for these type of books, just so she gets every detail right. With Duty and Desire, we get a sweet story with lots of twists and turns, some highs and lows, but most of all a well-crafted love story. Oh, and some sexy times for good measure.
As there is intrigue afoot, will Nick and Gio find their footing together? Will Nick embrace his family birthright? Will Gio write again? Well, you know the drill, I am not going to give away any of the fun secrets this book has to offer. This is one book that I would return to again and again, just to experience Nick and Gio’s journey over and over again.
You know what to do, as I highly recommend this story… Run to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab this book up immediately. I promise you won’t regret it. I hope we get to visit these guys again. Or at least this world.
Till next time.
