Travis
After a hard day’s work at my construction job, I decide to head to a gay bar to hook up. Then the man of my dreams walks in—tall, dark, handsome, and totally built. Sounds like a fairy tale. And maybe it is. We have one unforgettable night, then I steal away in the night, because I don’t do repeats. But when I see him on television the next day, I realize I haven’t had my fill of the sexy rugby player. He might not want to see me again, after I ditched him, but I have to try.
Isaiah
Waking up alone after a night of spectacular sex isn’t the end of the world. I shouldn’t feel lonely. After all, I’ve got my squad—my best friends on and off the pitch. I’ve also got my mom, whom I love, and my dad’s family back in New Zealand. I’m playing pro rugby for adoring fans in Vancouver, my dream come true. Having one hookup leave me without so much as thanks and goodbye shouldn’t hurt. But when he reappears at a game, I’m in big trouble. No one ever made me want them like this, after just one night. If I let Travis into my life again, am I just courting heartbreak the next time he walks away?
Hot Rucking Canadian is a 26k novella about a rugby fullback who embraces life, a grumpy construction worker who always sees the worst in life, and the love story that spans across an ocean.
REVIEW:
Travis is a construction worker in Vancouver. One night at a small sort of out of the way bar he meets a guy. He can tell the guy is submissive in nature right away. He asks if the guy wants to leave even before the guy gets a drink. He does. They go to the guy’s place and without even exchanging names, it’s one of the best nights Travis has had in a while.
Isaiah is a pro rugby player for the local Vancouver team. He’s an out player and he has gone to this bar to find someone. Normally people see his size and assume things. He gets hit on by a lot of twinks, but that’s not his jam. When he sees a tattooed older guy at the bar, well that’s it. That’s what he’s looking for. And when he calls him sir, well they are off.
Travis leaves after Isaiah falls asleep and he’s kind of regretting it. He ends up at another bar and he’s watching the TVs when he sees his one night stand in the game. He has zero clue about Rugby but he’s sad he didn’t leave contact with the man. The server tells him the guy’s name is Isaiah.
Travis ends up going to a home game and meeting the wife of one of the other players. She and her oldest daughter are there cheering. The daughter takes an immediate liking to Travis and so he goes with them after the game is over to meet the players. The other players and Isaiah ask Travis to join them for dinner and they have an amazing time.
Travis shares about his past with the young daughter – more as a cautionary tale than anything. He’s not had an easy life. But after his mother’s death, he’s turned things around and he’s got a good job, money in the bank and he’s doing ok. Even if he is lonely.
Isaiah was raised by a single mom too. They are still close and his mother wants to see him settled. It’s Thanksgiving time and so Travis is invited for the dinner. Maria (Isaiah’s mother) is a hoot. She loves Travis right away 🙂 And she wants her son happy and Travis is what makes her son happy 😉
This is a delightful short read and two guys who have had interest lives before they meet. There is an age gap but they are so compatible. Travis has never felt very worthy but Isaiah sees him differently. When he meets the extended family, it seems like maybe this is meant to be after all. There is a little bit of an insta-love vibe here, but it’s very sweet and romantic in the end. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about these guys and watching them find their HEA. Recommended.
