REVIEW:
The Erebus Assassins is another spinoff from Ms. Reese Knightley’s original series Out for Justice, Code of Honor, and Cobalt Security, although I think this will not be the last spinoff because we now also have Justice Force. It is a group of series that involves special operations under the watch and supervision of the former Secretary of Defense, who reports directly to the President. These are men who are mostly former military or police, who do operations under the radar, assisting the local authorities when their hands are tied. The general public will never know they exist, they save in secret but they always get the job done. Among all these groups the Erebus Assassins are the darkest (in terms of what they do) and only a handful of man are willing to be a part of this particular group.
Wrath has been chasing Rogue for some time now. He is attracted to the man, his silent and big guy does it for Wrath. But Rogue believes otherwise, he believes he is not worthy of being with Wrath because of what he has done in the past. Because of what he was. Rogue doesn’t give himself the benefit of someone having been brainwashed (by Solomon) and used, just like all the other victims of Solomon. He thinks that because he was the one on the outside of those cages, he could have done something in order to save all those children. But he was just a child himself when Solomon got his hands on him, made him what he was and out of misplaced loyalty he became Solomon’s trusted sidekick. And aside from that, deep down he was too afraid to do anything. Now he has to live with that, with all the regrets he has inside. And he can save as many children and young victims as he can now that he is free. But Wrath is always there. Trying to tell him that he is someone worthy to be saved and loved.
Wrath will do anything to make Rogue see that Rogue is more than what Solomon made him years ago. Wrath wants Rogue to realize that Rogue is worth being love and cared for. How can Wrath make Rogue see that when he keeps running away from Wrath.
Rogue thinks that Wrath is too good for him, someone who has always been doing good for humanity. Someone who has morals and courage to fight for those who couldn’t fight for themselves. He is confused as to why Wrath would want him, he doesn’t deserve all the attention that Wrath wants to give him, he doesn’t deserve it at all.
These two have been crossing each other’s paths for two years now, with Wrath always chasing after Rogue. Wrath wants him but Rogue thinks he is too damaged to be given another chance at a life of love and acceptance. But when love does hit someone, one would do almost anything to get that someone to love him back.
Ms. Reese Knightley has created these characters in this highly-charged situations who are beautiful in their imperfections. Men who have gone through so much pain that they themselves think they do not deserve anything more. Any form of happiness and love they experience, they think they are not worth it. I love them all so much, they deserve all the love. And thank you Ms. Reese Knightley for bringing them to life in your books. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
