A healer on the rise. A masked merchant hiding too much. A kingdom where the wrong kind of magic can cost you everything.
Cael is used to being underestimated. A par-linea healer in a world where magic is only for the elite, he’s fought for every scrap of recognition, and now, he’s finally earned a place in the royal city. But ambition has a price, and when he once again crosses paths with that sharp-tongued merchant who knows too much, their game of wits threatens to turn deadly.
Quin is an enigma, a man who moves through court like a shadow, watching, waiting. His gaze lingers too long, his smirks cut too deep, and when a violent conspiracy unfolds within the palace walls, Cael finds himself ensnared in a battle far bigger than himself. With wyverns wreaking havoc and a high duke tightening his grip, the city is on the verge of collapse. And somehow, Quin is always at the centre of it.
Torn between ambition and survival, Cael must decide who he can trust. But in a world where power is wielded more sharply than magic, trust may be the most dangerous weapon of all.
THE KING’S MAN is an epic romantasy filled with slow-burn passion, courageous choices, and the relentless spirit of a healer determined to beat all odds.
This six-book series is one continuous journey and romance arc and is best read in order for maximum enjoyment.

REVIEW:
Note: This is the second in the series and it is required to read this series in order.
Cael has begun his training as a healer after he manages to pass the initial exams. He continues his studies with Chiron and Chiron’s son, the star pupil, on the King’s Island. Intrigue abounds though. The High Duke is playing at something with the King who is playing a role too. Cale is determined to save anyone he can. He’s also determined to stay in touch with Prince Nicostratus, aka Silvius. Quin continues to pop up when Cael least expects it too.
There are more secrets and identities to be uncovered. At the annual gala, the High Duke, the king’s uncle, sets a trap for not only the king, but whoever might be loyal to him and his brother. Cael and his friends get caught up on it as well.
There is also an unexpected reunion for Cael with a childhood friend. Who she is to the kind is a surprise to him. But what is Cael to do between the two men who he feels connected to – whether he likes it or not. Everyone is under a heavy burden and the stakes only get higher.
Ok it’s really really hard to describe this story without giving away too much. But Cael is torn between the two men with whom his life has been entwined for years now. He’s not sure which way is up or down. The pacing of this book worked so much better for me than the first one. There is a lot of action and intrigue and of course the surprises weren’t totally unexpected. Cael continues to be impulsive and needs to be bailed out several times, but leading with his heart also makes many fans for his fearlessness. Again, there is a cliffhanger of an ending – but thankfully the next books are coming soon. The family drama and intrigue continue here and the relationships between brothers, colleagues, and Cael are changing. I’m anxiously awaiting the next story. Again, this is a super slow burn, so I think it will be a while before we know how hearts will end up here – happy, broken, both?
