BLURB:
Dakota Morris has decided it’s time he lost that pesky virginity.
He’s a college graduate, and he’s tired of being a virgin. So he goes out to a club his friends don’t frequent, and picks up the hottest man he’s ever seen. It’s truly a night to remember . . . until he walks into the boardroom for his new job the next morning and wishes he could forget it, because his hot pick-up is also his new boss and CEO, Ajax Fyse.
The fact that he unknowingly slept with his newest employee is the least of Jax’s problems right now. Not only is he trying to navigate a merger with a mage family who disdains werewolves as beasts, it turns out the mage he took home last night didn’t even believe magic existed till this morning.
This morning, when his magic abilities manifested.
Now, Dakota’s stapler is flying across the room, and Jax has landed himself in the position of ushering his gorgeous new hire into the realm of magic. If only sleeping with a werewolf wouldn’t ruin Dakota’s reputation among other mages . . .
REVIEW:
Dakota is doing his best to start a good life for himself. He worked hard to finish school and starting his dream job. Taking care of his pesky virginity seems easy enough. But he’s finding out nothing is ever easy.
Jax couldn’t help but be drawn to beautiful Dakota. He didn’t know why a gorgeous mage would waste time with a wolf like him, but he wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth. He never dreamed what the truth would be.
This is an excellent story. I love the premise, the fact that the world these characters live in is populated by different supernatural beings who are doing their best just to live their lives. I like the lore the authors have created very much, and as always Sam Burns and W.M. Fawkes have build an amazing universe for their characters to dwell in. These two never fail to write characters who are interesting, compelling and easy to fall in love with.
I loved everyone in Jax’s family, the ones who are blood and the ones he found, like his sister Jillian and his friend Prudence. And I adored how easily they all adopted Dakota, who is really alone in life.
There’s a lot of sex in this book, and while I understand that some of it was a part of what was going on, I could have done with a little more story and a little sex sexytimes. I would have loved to have seen a few more interactions between Jax and Dakota that were talking and figuring things out. I would have loved some more interaction with others as well, like Charles, Jax’s friend and driver.
All in all, though, this a darn good story. I see at the end there’s a preview of what’s coming next in this world and I have to say, I’m really looking forward to it.
