The last thing Austin Williams needs is for his just-like-him nerdy son Dallas to get into a fight at school. The last thing he expects is to get to school to find that Dallas has a new best friend, a miniature cowgirl named Paige. The final shock of the day comes when he realizes that his son’s new best friend’s dad is the cover model he just hired for all of his novels.
Kyler Hale is a cowboy. He’s used to rough and tumble folks, and he lives for his daughter. Which is why, when she makes a good friend in kindergarten, he’s going to do everything he can to help them stay friends. Between play dates and outings, Kyler discovers he also wants to be friends with Dallas’s dad. Austin is kind, smart, interesting. And hot. But Kyler has never figured out how to date a guy before, so he has to really put some thought into it.
As these single dads navigate kindergarten, dating, and finding ways to tell each other the truth, things might get tough. Can they find a way to cover all their bases and give everyone a happily ever after?
REVIEW:
I am truly enjoying these Cowboy Wanted cowboys and the jobs that they are hired for.
Kyler’s a retired saddle bronc rider state champion rodeo cowboy building a home for himself and his precocious and strong willed kindergarten daughter Paige on the land he inherited. He needs some quick cash to help with costs and answers the Cowboy Wanted ad. The one that a cowboy model is needed for a set of gay romance novel covers. Little did he realize just how small the world is when he winds up friends with the writer because their son and daughter become best friends at school!
Wow this one has all the feels. A sweet and mighty little girl defends a smaller boy in her new class being bullied by a nasty little boy. And the friendship is important to both kids navigating a new part of their lives. But watching Kyler open up to those ideas that have laid dormant and experiencing so many firsts with Austin was awesome. I loved that Ky’s ex and Paige’s Mom Henley saw who Ty was and readily accepted his bisexuality so well.
I was a bit put off that Austin stalled so long to tell Ky his secret about the book covers and was real nervous when that discovery was made. It could have gone a whole lot worse. And I would have expected Ky to be a bit embarrassed but it would be fine if Austin had just manned up.
This has been a fun series with the Cowboy Wanted ads and the matches that happened. I do hope there is more to this delightful series.
