Outfoxed is an opposites attract, hurt/comfort, found family romance featuring an injured bull rider at the end of his career and a widower single dad derailed by a mental health crisis.
Bull rider Trent James might be a little broken. He’s a cowboy recovering from a terrible wreck, going through the grind of surgeries and physical therapy and trying not to have a meltdown. Thank goodness for his friends and neighbors Rope and Jude, who keep him up and moving and getting better.
Callum Fox is broken for a totally different reason. When he heads to Texas to visit his friends, he’s looking to get away from too many hours as a CEO and too many memories of his late husband. He wants to spend more time with his daughter, and he needs to figure out what he’s going to do with the rest of his life.
The two of them come together and find kindred spirits in each other. But sometimes it’s tough to glue the broken parts back together, and they have to find out where they fit and what they can do to support each other, even when the storm gets bad. Can Fox and Trent make a life together, or will they be unable to mend their shattered pieces?
REVIEW:
If you had the chance to read Roped In (On the Ranch -Book 2) then you got to meet Rope, Jude and Jude’s son Silas and Rope’s best friend Trent. I loved that book so much and was thrilled when we got this new book and got to see how those men were getting’ on in life. I had wondered about Rope’s best friend Trent and loved that he got his own story 💕
Callum Fox needs to do something to bring him out of this downward spiral for both his and Amelia sake. New York just wasn’t working anymore. With Xan’s, his husband, sudden death Fox’s work seemed to suddenly overwhelm him and being CEO just didn’t work anymore. He finally got courageous called his friend Jude. He had met Jude in that “support group for single dads who’d lost their spouses years ago” and became good friends. Jude had met his new man and moved himself and Silas, Jude’s son, out to Rope’s ranch about an hour out of Austin. Fox just needs help and Jude recognizes that need in his voice and orders him to come down to Texas immediately. What Jude and Rope never imagined was that Rope’s rodeo partner/best friend/godfather to his new baby girl/next door ranch owner/business partner Trent James and Fox would hit it off so well. Or that Fox might think of giving up everything he amassed in NYC for life on a dusty ranch in Texas. But Fox Outfoxed them!
Fox’s severe anxiety overwhelmed him at times and he need a change and a chance to just breathe. And Trent was at a whole new stage of his life after that career ending wreck with that bull. Thankfully he and Rope were building a future for them all. And Fox was the man for Trent. If he could handle what Trent’s messed up shoulder looked like while trying to heal and then put the cream on that hamburger looking mess then he was just the right person to fall for. I also loved how Amelia took charge in her Dad’s life and made them realize they were all three forming a family and a home On the Ranch! They had everything they needed there and life needed to change.
I never lived in tornado country. Oregon gets a small one every once in a great while and we get waterspouts in Hawaii but very rarely. So I, like Fox, knew nothing about green sky is a giant neon sign to take to shelter immediately because one is heading straight for you. And with everything Fox has been through and his debilitating anxiety, that I’m all too familiar with, no wonder he crumbled completely. What I loved about that part was that Trent got it and made sure his man knew he was there for him even though it was scary and confusing for Trent. His love for Fox allowed his instincts to kick in to make sure his man got what he needed. And Fox NEEDED Trent in his life! These two completed each other.
I have really enjoyed this series and it was great to see Rope, Jude and Silas again. And to see Silas and Amanda form such a close friendship. But what I loved most was Trent getting his own slice of joy and happiness. He had always been there for his buddy Rope and he deserved the best. Can’t wait for more in this amazing and heart warming series. I do recommend that you read Roped In first though.
