BLURB:
Forcing Salvatore Moretti to marry me at gunpoint isn’t the craziest thing I’ve ever done…
I hate being desperate, being scared. It’s a filthy, helpless feeling. I’d much rather be enraged, violent… unhinged.
Salvatore watches me dance and calls me Angioletto, his little angel. He doesn’t know the demons that haunt me. He’s too blinded by my beauty to see the blood on my hands. Then again, he’s a mafia capo, so maybe the blood wouldn’t bother him anyway.
My past is like fire licking at my heels, ready to consume me. But Sal won’t let that happen, he’ll protect me. He has to.
I learned a long time ago not to trust anyone but myself. It’s dangerous the way he manages to unravel all of my defenses and turn me from a guarded Dom into the submissive brat I’ve never felt safe enough to be. It’s terrifying the way I’m starting to crave him.
I wasn’t sure I would live long enough to worry about this marriage starting to feel real, but this well-dressed mafioso might just manage to save my life after all. We can argue about divorce once the threat is neutralized I suppose. And in the meantime, he is my husband, I might as well enjoy the perks…
REVIEW:
Boy, do I love this group! Each story reminds me of how much I have come to enjoy these characters. The stories center around the Moretti mafia family with each of the players finding their matches in some pretty unique individuals and some pretty unique situations. We have met these characters before, as the Morettis often congregate and meet at the club where Dante works as a dancer/server. He’s one of the few who hasn’t shown fear with his interactions with any of the Moretti clan, and this pretty much holds true to his own life as well. He is one of the top dancers, but he doesn’t hesitate to put people in their place. He presents himself as a bit of a hard ass on the outside, but Salvatore sees through him pretty much from the get go.
I absolutely love Salvatore. He is so calm and collected all the time but also has a great sense of humor. He never rises to Dante’s bait, and that holds true when Dante puts his plan in motion. He basically just goes along with the plan to see how it all plays out. And, of course, he has no issue with being tethered to Dante since he’s had him in his sights all along. He takes his role as Dante’s protector very seriously, even if it takes a little convincing for Dante to see it that way since he has had to take care of himself for so long.
I absolutely love these two together. Salvatore handles Dante so perfectly, and Dante is exactly the feisty partner Salvatore needs. There is a bit going on here with Dante’s issues and how they end up crossing over into Moretti territory. The Morettis are still having to deal with the Irish, and that seems to be ramping up, although Enzo seems to be keeping things under control so far. There is clearly a lot of heat building between him and Declan, and it will be really interesting to see these two family leaders go head to head once and for all. I loved seeing the other couples again, Sparrow and Xavi and Elio and Orion. There is a bit of a D/S theme to each of these, as the Moretti guys all need to match up with someone they trust and can be vulnerable with. Looks like Luca is up next, and I am already excited for more of the Moretti clan!
