Jason’s Stallworth’s life was anything but easy.
His mother had horrible taste in men and the revolving door of baby daddies made that clear. As soon as she kicked out a new sibling, they took off. On top of that, she worked multiple jobs to keep a roof over their heads and food in their bellies leaving Jason to assume the parental role. Many nights he sang his siblings to sleep, drowning out the arguments and slamming doors.
Music was his therapy. Music was his escape. Music was his life.
Sikes and Snipes met in the marines and though their connection was instant, the duo always felt something was missing. After retiring from the military, their friend and former squad mate Max hooked them up with interviews as personal bodyguards with his boss, Fizzbo.
Guarding rockstars wasn’t on their Bingo card, but a job was a job and as long as they remained on the same team they were good to go. What they didn’t expect was to fall for one of their principals.
Higher Notes is book two in the Chaotic Abyss rockstar romance series.
REVIEW:
We have had Josh’s redemption story (just wow on that one!) and met the rest of the fellow band members in the rising star rock group Chaotic Abyss. Now it’s time to get to know their lead singer Jason better and get his story. And boy oh boy it’s a doozy.
Jason has always had his Mom’s back and helped out. She was just a child herself when she wound up pregnant and then dumped by Jason’s sperm donor. She has really horrible taste in men. They wind up knocking her up and then dump her or simply disappear. So Jason helps out with expenses, keeping a roof over their heads, watching his bratty preteen brother and his 6 year-old twin little brother and sister while Mom’s at one of her jobs and running the band he created. When two of the bodyguards from Embrace the Fear, Sikes and Snipes, takes active notice of the very attractive and younger lead singer from Chaotic Abyss things start fitting into place when they take action. But can two 42 year old grumpy ex military bodyguards be what a 27 year old rising star and his active family needs?
Wow! I love poly and Snipe/Wyatt and Sikes/Hayden were perfect for Jase. They knew what they needed and made it happen. I loved how both Jase’s family and the Masterson family of Rock Bands all embraced the two guards and the singer forming a poly relationship. At least both the Masterson group and Fizzbo eagerly accepted them. But that was no surprise knowing the history of Social Sinners, Maiden Voyage and Embrace the Fear bands. Plus other of Fizzbo’s guards have had previous history too with Mega Rock Band’s Black Ice and Ivory Tower.
I love that Social Sinners are so completely invested in Chaotic Abyss’s success and are there for them.. Easton and his husband Diamond have taken a special interest by this group. I loved that Jason tore Marley a new one. You don’t go blowing off a Super Star like Mickey when he offers to work one-on-one with an up-and-coming bassist. And when Jase and his men needed to rush home it wasn’t surprising that Joey, with his husband Stoli by his side, came to help out any way they could. You are family when you join Masterson!
I am loving this newest band signed by Masterson Management and can’t wait to get to know them more! Plus I’m so excited to meet Diamond and Easton’s twins very soon
