REVIEW:
This is the fourth book in the Obsession Series. Both main characters have appeared briefly in previous books but now we get to find out more about them. Scott is a personal assistant first to Dakata, and then Meriham. He is a fastidious and detail-oriented demon who thrives on control and precision. His personality is shaped by his role as a personal secretary, and he’s highly competent in his professional duties. However, his tendency to keep things orderly extends to his personal life, making him somewhat guarded and dramatic at times.
George, a bear shifter, is a taxi driver and often picks up Silas and takes him to his gigs. He has a grounded and patient demeanor. He’s caring and steady, but his life hasn’t been without challenges.
Their lives intertwine when Scott is sent to visit George, who is recovering from an accident. This meeting reveals that they are destined mates, setting the stage for their evolving relationship but their journey is far from straightforward with twists and turns.
Scott’s family, plays a significant role in shaping his insecurities and challenges. They are unsupportive of his choices and maintain rigid expectations about how he should live his life. Their critical nature and lack of acceptance create emotional turmoil for Scott, fueling his need for control and perfectionism as coping mechanisms.
Their disapproval becomes one of the external pressures Scott must confront as he embarks on his journey with George. Overcoming their judgment and finding the strength to prioritize his happiness is a key part of Scott’s personal growth in the story.
George’s family, particularly his bear shifter clan, plays a significant role in the challenges he faces. His clan is estranged from him, and their rejection weighs heavily on George. This estrangement stems from conflicts and expectations within the clan, which George had no intention of fulfilling, instead he leaves the clan and vows to never go back.
The clan’s disapproval isolates George and makes it difficult for him to feel fully accepted, both within his family and in the wider shifter community. Their lack of support creates external pressure, further complicating his bond with Scott. However, confronting these familial issues is a key part of George’s journey toward healing and self-acceptance.
George and Scott tackle their familial challenges with a combination of mutual support, emotional growth, and determination to prioritize their bond. Both Scott and George lean on each other for strength. George provides a calming and grounding presence for Scott, helping him face criticism from his unsupportive demon family. Meanwhile, Scott brings his fiery personality to George’s side, offering encouragement as George confronts his estranged clan. As their relationship deepens, they learn to communicate openly about their struggles and fears. Sharing their vulnerabilities allows them to build trust and face their challenges together as a united front.
When the unthinkable happens and George is kidnapped Scott’s meticulous nature and strong-willed personality come to the forefront. He mobilizes all his resources and determination to rescue George, refusing to let anything stand in his way. This ordeal forces Scott to confront his insecurities and fully embrace the depth of his feelings for George.
For George, the experience serves as a turning point in his journey of self-worth and belonging. Despite being in a vulnerable position, he showcases resilience and strength, proving that he’s more than capable of fighting for himself and his relationship with Scott.
Together, this event cements their commitment to one another, highlighting the lengths they are willing to go to protect and support each other. It’s a pivotal moment of growth and love for both characters.
