Quin Hunter likes the quiet life. He runs his gallery, forges famous art, and operates a fence where black market buyers get fakes and the real pieces get returned to their rightful owners. Nice and simple. He doesn’t do field work. But a call from his twin thrusts him into the action, and now he and his brothers are racing the clock to steal a painting from someone who never should have had it in the first place.
Dimitri Crysanthos is no stranger to mistakes. All he wanted to do was make life easier for his sister. Instead, he ended up making everything harder for both of them. With his life and his sister’s hanging in the balance, he has no choice but to do whatever one of the most ruthless men in Amsterdam tells him to do. All Dimitri wants is to stay alive…until a stranger changes everything. Now Dimitri craves something terrifying, something that will put him and his sister in even more danger—his freedom.
The stakes of the heist have changed, and Quin refuses to quit until Dimitri is safe for good. Can the ORCA team get the art and Quin’s fated mate out of Amsterdam, or are the odds too stacked against them?
Full Color is book three in the Organization for the Return of Criminals and Assets (ORCA) series, featuring an orca shifter art forger who isn’t keen on field work, a chameleon shifter with a lucrative secret talent, and a heist where the target is far more valuable than a stolen painting!
REVIEW:
Note: This is the third book in this series and therefore has spoilers for the previous book. Also, the first book really sets the overall worldbuilding as well as provides a lot of background on Cal and his brothers which are helpful in this story. I recommend reading in order as there is an overarching mystery here that builds through the books.
Three of my favorite things collide in this installment of ORCA – beautiful paintings, Amsterdam and art heist capers I’ve been waiting for Quin’s story and this is a thrilling addition to the saga of the Hunter brothers and their quest to find out who is behind the taking of Felix, Nero’s mate and the recovery of a forged painting. Rest assured that this is well worth the read.
Quin is sort of the most buttoned up of the 4 Hunter brothers. He and his twin Cal could not be more different. Quin is happy to paint and run his gallery and Cal is a special ops guy who sometimes let’s things get a little out of control But when they work together on a op to review the lost forgery of the The Evolution of Man Quin is normally a more behind the scenes guy, but the dealer in Amsterdam hasn’t met him and it’s an opportunity for him to go out in the field to help with the recovery of the painting. While he’s not thrilled, he is in the best position to get to the dealer in stolen goods, Dasselaar. Needless to say this guy is BAD news. But he’s intrigued by Quinn’s appearance and invites him to his home.
Once there, Quinn is determined to find the man he glimpsed at Dasselaar’s gallery. Something happened when they were in the same space and he knows that this mystery man is something that is precious to him. He doesn’t know exactly what – although he suspects.
Quinn attempts to be a model guest at Dasselaar’s estate. Meanwhile his brothers and their mates are providing other support – both knowledge and muscle and of course hacking (thanks Felix). Quinn locates the beautiful man, Dimitri, he saw at the gallery and confirms that he’s being held prisoner. When he finds out why and how Dasselaar is keeping Dimitri. Dimitri is a prisoner who is being blackmailed and drugged and his abilities that are tied to his shifter traits are something that Daaselaar needs. However Dimitri has no illusions that Dasselaar will hesitate to get rid of him when he is no longer useful. Permanently. Quinn isn’t about the let that happen. Especially now that he’s found him and realized exactly who he is.
We meet more friends and former associates of Juno, the Hunter brothers grandmother who raised them and who is a well known art thief. Some are helpful to Quinn during his attempt to get the prize he came for – as well as Dimitri, his mate, out of Dasselaar’s clutches. But of course despite all that planning things get a little bit derailed. It’s all hands on deck to get Quinn and Dimitri out of harm’s way and get the heck out of dodge! This is highly inconvenient since they are mates and Quinn is reluctant to leave Dimitri’s side even though he wants to him safe and away from any danger. Needless to say, Dimitri refuses to leave, so into the breach they go!
This was a fun romp through the art world! I love Amsterdam and the art world is fantastic there. (Highly recommended – some of the world’s very best art and museums are in The Netherlands). Quinn has been a little bit of an enigma and it’s good to see him in action here since he’s been behind the scenes before. His relationship with Cal is changing and their twin bond is key to them realizing what is happening. They get closer during this caper which was really good to see. Nero and Felix are doing their thing supporting this heist too which really help Quinn and Dimitri get ahead of the bad guys. Family is a big theme here – for both the Hunter brothers and Dimitri. Dimitri has more to adjust to after being held prisoner and finally having someone who is going to help him and give him a new life. They were so sweet together and Quinn is so lovely and protective. Each of them are so loving and so happy to have found each other. I cannot wait to see what’s coming next with Julius This is a really interesting series and I’ve enjoyed the heck out of it.
