BLURB:

He comes in peace… amongst other things.

When college kid Jude Adler wishes for a new life on a shooting star, he never imagined it would come in the form of a shapeshifting alien who nearly crash-lands his spaceship on top of him, let alone one who chooses to disguise himself as a man inspired by Jude’s wildest fantasies.

Al’s ship is damaged and unable to make the flight home, and when he earnestly asks Jude for a safe place to stay until help arrives, how can Jude say no?

Keeping his hands to himself until then shouldn’t be difficult… but Jude is only human, and there’s only so long anyone can resist a roommate disguised as the hottest guy imaginable.

A roommate whose insatiable curiosity is piqued by Jude’s human body…And who shares Jude’s only bed.

Crash-Landed in Love is a hilarious paranormal romance set on modern-day Earth with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It contains a clueless alien who is quite good at pretending to be a human, a love that’s written in the stars, shapeshifting body parts, and enough steam you’ll start to worry that your spaceship is on fire.

Please note that while this series has a contemporary setting… life finds a way.

REVIEW:

Jude is a college guy who has been through a crappy breakup with ah lousy cheating ex.  He decided to drive out the desert to stargaze and he’s nearly smashed by a crashing space ship.  He tries to hide but the alien with 4 arms gets out of the ship.  (This whole scene is HILARIOUS)  The alien sees Jude though and by getting into his mind and then talking to him, he’s able to ask for help in English.  Which he decides not very far into the story is just a stupid language (not wrong).

Jude seems to sort of take this in stride, but he knows they need to get out of there or the Men in Black will show up and they will both be disappeared.  So he convinces Al to get in his beater of a car (something else Al thinks is stupid – again not wrong).  However, a lizard like creature with 4 arms is NOT going to pass for human.  Luckily Al can shape shift.  While in Jude’s car, he’s discovered Jude’s stash of romance novels and the cover models seems to be something Jude likes, so Al patterns his shape shift to have these traits.  He looks a bit like a greek god according to Jude.

They get back to Jude’s apartment and his roommate Ezra is there.  He also seems to take Al’s appearance in stride.  Al is not terribly good at appearing/acting human, but Jude sort of laughs it off and Ezra doesn’t seem inclined to ask too many questions.  They go to Jude’s room and try to figure out what to do.  Al doesn’t have a way to contact his family on his home planet.  They decide to try to get him access to the engineering department on Jude’s college campus.  That way he can make one.  His friend Corbin can help with fake ids, etc.

Jude and Al are very much attracted to each other and they end up having sex.  Jude has no idea what this will mean.  Al figures out that they are mates and that indeed he is impregnating Jude.  He thinks Jude is on the same page and realizes that they are mates and that he’s fine with this.

Al keeps working on his “appearing human” schtick and making his communication device.   They get pulled into a dinner with Jude’s parents and his brother.  Jude’s brother is a bit of a jerk and the parents are homophobic.  Jude doesn’t want to go but he knows they will just show up if he doesn’t.  The dinner goes as Jude expects with one exception.  Al stands up for him!  Turns out that Al’s parents also view him as a disappointment and his brother Titan is the BMOC in their family.  More in common!

When Jude finds out he’s pregnant, well things don’t go to plan.  Al is devastated.  He was looking forward to taking Jude and their clutch back to his planet and being a father and moving on with his life.  It takes a bit before Jude is on board with any plans.  There are other visits and thankfully help from friends to keep these two together.

Well I’m sure I scared a few people on my bus commuting into and back from the city with my laughing out loud moments – which were many.   Al’s literal way of speaking and very true assessment of English kept me in stitches!  This is what happens when you patch together a language from multiple base languages.  LOL!  There really is no reasonable or logical explanation for it.  We just have to learn it.   The whole time thing had me giggling a well.  And even the dig at not using the metric system.  I mean come on.  There are three countries in the world who have refused to get on the bandwagon:  US, Liberia and Myanmar.  Hmmmm.  One of these things is not like the others 😉  We made it as far as two liter bottles of soda and anything else was just a bridge too far.  ANYWAY . . . This whole story was absolutely delightful.  I enjoyed reading it but I found a whole next level of enjoyment in Audio.

OMG  Michael Ferriauolo does an absolutely amazing job narrating this story.  Honestly I wish we had outtakes and behind the scenes footage of this recording because I’m amazed he was able to get through this.  I was laughing and laughing and laughing throughout this story – particularly the first half.  Things get a little more serious in the second half of the book, but there is still plenty of humor and heart.  Ezra, Corbin and Buttons are great supporting characters – each with very distinct voices 😉  The descriptions of Al’s parents and that whole scenario had me rolling.  The voices are funny and spot on for Al and company.  Jude is surprisingly probably my least favorite character, but that’s probably unfair because he has a lot on him in this and much of it is a huge surprise and shock.  In the end, he redeems himself.  I absolutely LOVED this story and this performance is just one of my alltime favorites.  I can’t wait for the next book.  I can see re-listening to this over and over.  I don’t think it will ever get old!
