Sometimes you have to make deals with the devil to save the people you love.
Cory is changing my life. My quirky boy. So opposite of me in every way. Sweet and vulnerable, he’s willing to wear his heart on his sleeve. He’s willing to accept who I am—what I am—so I won’t fail him.
Now his worries are mine. His found family is mine. Mine to shelter. Mine to protect.
To do that, I’ll make another deal with the devil. One that will draw me out of the shadows to align me with a crime Family. They’ll give me the soldiers and resources to give my Cory answers, and hopefully, get his remaining family member back.
I’m playing a dangerous game. One I’m determined to win. No matter the cost. Because I’ll do anything for my boy. Anything to keep him by my side.
~~This is book 2 of the Devil’s Deal Duology. Same couple and follows directly after book 1, Filling The Void.~~
REVIEW:
We are back in Takoda lurking in the dark underbelly with the mafia families and their lieutenants.
Redeeming Bosley is an immediate continuation of the story in Filling the Void . Corey is still battered and bruised after being kidnapped by Huey. Romeo his Daddy and real life hitman (the real name of Bosley) doesn’t want to let him out of his sight but knows he has a debt to pay to the Buccelli mafia family who helped him. He also knows he needs the crime families help again to find Corey’s nephew who was kidnapped by another crime family a while ago, In return he will help them clean house and clear up their turf.
In this book we find out more about Corey’s life with his deceased husband and deceased sister. He really is not as naive and lacking in street smarts as Romeo thinks. In parts it’s quite sad, in others its full of hope and joy. We also see more of Romeo’s devotion and willingness to do anything for the one he loves and how he develops into an emotionally mature person.
The Gin Mil, Corey’s hotel is still being run as if in the 1920’s with no swearing from the staff, time appropriate uniforms, titles and room naming I also love that we get to see more of Harlow the receptionist, Old Everest the lift operator and Charity the sex worker they rescued in the first book. – I really love the little details such as Harlow calling Corey, Big Cheese and Charity staying in Gangsters Paradise . These side characters all come into their own in this book and we find out more about their back stories. We also get to see them getting some happiness in this book which let’s face it they all deserve. We do also get a tiny glimpse at some of the other Daddies of Takoda we have met in prior series’ set here.
This was an enjoyable read with enough drama to make it a good conclusion to this duology, but never fear Harlow and Dante need their story which is coming in Desire. I can’t wait,
