Though Raven Mathis and Miguel Huerta have recently opened their new recovery business, doing things they used to do on their own, things haven’t been going so well. But some things have gone right. They’ve settled down in Nana’s house and are deeply in love. And they’re getting accustomed to working as partners, but business is slow. But when they get a call asking if they can help recover a valuable pigeon’s blood ruby, they jump at the chance, even though they’re advised to carry guns.
When the man Miguel left for dead in the desert long ago unexpectedly shows up at their first meeting with their new client, the request that they come armed, suddenly becomes a harsh reality. Miguel is in total disbelief as he’s abruptly faced with a ghost who might be out for blood. And when a dark stranger starts making threats, things start spiraling out of control. Miguel hates the fact that Raven is in terrible danger, and how is his former lover involved?
Figuring out how to navigate Miguel’s past may prove harder to overcome than they realize. It’s a lot to ask of Raven. Will their love for each other be enough? The rush to figure out why operatives are targeting them becomes a necessity, and though Miguel hates it, he realizes he may just have to rely on a few new colleagues to help.
He knows one thing, though…killing the man he’d once been in love with, might be the only way to save Raven.
REVIEW:
Wow! Patty Logan has taken me on some wild rides and harrowing journeys but I never saw all of this coming.
Miguel and Raven have settled into their lives. They have moved Miguel into Raven’s Nana’s home and the and his kitten Stanley have made themselves at home. With Nana’s new caregiver Dolly working out so well they can now focus on their new business adventure “Trackers”, are overt business. Even though things have started out really slowly they finally have a new case that will get them back on track and making money. This new case seems peculiar right from the start. The lawyer for the recent widow, who’s $2 Million dollar rare pigeon’s blood Ruby family heirloom went missing, asks if they can come armed to their initial meeting. The meeting at an upper scale Mexican Restaurant turns even more bizarre when Miguel spots a man he knew had been dead for almost eleven years…his former love John!
I am really, really loving this series and don’t tell Thayne and Jarrett but I think I might have a couple new book boyfriend favorites. Miguel is so honorable and caring and there is no way you can stop your heart for falling for Raven. These two men just work together like PB & J! I know that it wears on Miguel that he is currently down on his luck financially but Raven doesn’t care. He has fallen completely head or heals for the beautiful and sexy retired Recon Marine. And Miguel is just as taken with his sexy boyfriend whom he would stand in front of a bullet before he ever lets him get harmed again on his watch. When their new case brings home a former boyfriend that Miguel has mourned the death of since that fateful sandstorm years before their lives have been turned upside down and Miguel doesn’t know what to believe anymore. Thankfully Thayne, Jarrett and Mac Mac Mac are there to help and Jarrett knows his Daddy is the man to bring in to help after he hears Miguel’s story.
I can’t wait to see where this case leads us next. We are still up in the air with what happened to the Ruby pennant and I am sure this case is far from over yet! I love that we are back in the Death and Destruction Universe and I get to see many of my all-time favorite characters come back to life.
