REVIEW:
Wow, this story caught ahold of me and didn’t let go from the first chapter… Shilo’s reaction to finding Ryann in his passenger seat was everything , their encounter less than satisfactory to put it mildly and then his sheer horror on the coincidence of their second meeting sets a tone for their interaction that has Ryann needing to rebuild the bridges he seems to have inadvertently burned.
The push and pull between the two was hot, Ryann trying to resist and Shilo in denial and quite a bit hurt but no less averse to messing with Ryann. And the chemistry between these two is WHITE HOT! Like all the hotness.. have I said hot enough number of times to convey how unbelievably hot they are.
The author allows us to discover how Ryan’s life is far from perfect, his layers gently exposed to show how little space he’s been allowed to have in his life to form any meaningful connections. Shilo himself is struggling with a mountain of trauma and these two arnt at all a perfect match in so many aspects but I loved how Shilo stands up for himself early on and articulates and acts on what he needs, stepping away. I loved the themes of self love, healing, found family… The story isn’t predictable in the least, it’s a hard won, perfectly messy HEA and I absolutely loved it.
Also Shilo’s dad and Ronin are d1cks. I know Mark redeemed himself but I’m still holding a tiny grudge.. I’ll come around. Loved Paige and Olivia was so cool and bada$$ and I’m so curious about KC and Carpenter- honestly the author gave me a story with great side characters that I just relished reading. Highly recommend checking it out.. there are content warnings available since there are sensitive themes so check those out.
