Zander is in an auction house for the sole purpose of getting someone to sign a contract. He doesn’t have any interest in owning a blood slave—until he lays eyes on Max. That, he must have.
Max is there for reasons of his own, mostly desperate reasons, and he’s braced himself for a year of hell. Which doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.
Someone needs to explain to this vampire that he’s supposed to use Max, not spoil him. Zander doesn’t seem to get it.
Tags:
Paranormal romance, blood slave contract thing, except Zander doesn’t actually know how to own someone, I’m pretty sure he’d break out into hives if he couldn’t spoil Max, Max has no idea what just hit him, he just knows he’s somehow the responsible one, it’s definitely not Zander, sexy times incoming!, Zander is a walking green flag, sass, so much sass incoming, light angst, mostly as an excuse for cuddles, stubborn to lovers, part time soulmates, full time problem, whole story is just mindless violence and fluff, the summary really doesn’t get across how much sex is in this but it’s also not wrong, cinnamon protection squad, assemble!
REVIEW:
This book is a lesson in vampire cuteness. Zander lives to make people happy and when he finds Max by accident, he realizes that Max deserves happiness more than anyone.
Max is just doing what he has to do to help his father. This blood slave thing is only supposed to last for a year. He can put up with almost everything for a year, right?
I liked how these characters found their way to each other. Zander doesn’t know how to NOT show his feelings while Max is trying desperately to not get lost in the love and affection that Zander showers on him every day. Max had been prepared to be treated like crap, but this kindess and compassion is something he never expected. Watching Max trying to turn his point of view made me smile while feeling a little sad too.
There are three books in this series and while they could be read as stand-alone, I feel like reading them all would make for a better experience.
This is not a long story, but it’s complete. I wasn’t left wanting for anything, although I could always read more of a good book with characters I get attached to.
Zander’s family is awesome, by the way, and I suspect that they are the subjects of the other books. And one good thing about starting an older series is that you don’t have to wait for the next book to come out!
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. I’m happy to give it a 4 out of 5 hearts.
