Dreams collapse in the blink of an eye, I know that better than anyone after losing my career as an athlete. Now I spend my days giving people pleasure for pay and playing with stocks. Most of my friends have settled in Clay Springs, Florida. A sleepy little town that moves slower than molasses. Call it boredom or infatuation with the redhead who scowls at me every time I smile his way, but I think there’s also something special for me in Clay Springs. If only Harper would let me show him.

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that most people suck. Not in the fun way either. All my cousins are settling down with their boyfriends and I’ve got my service dog and a brain disorder. Cool. When Jackson shows interest in me, I figure it has to be a joke. But the big guy wants to be my friend. Then he wants to date me. And now … well now I’m in too deep and it’s only a matter of time until he leaves. After all, I’m always too much or too little, never just enough.
The Remarkable Lover is the third book in the Sweet Southern series featuring one-sided annoyance to lovers, size difference, hurt/comfort, playboy/inexperienced, and a man who finally allows himself to be loved.
REVIEW:
This is the third book I’ve read in this series and the author hasn’t let me down yet.
Jackson is sweet and adorable. He’s instantly smitten with Harper and is not about to let him get away without a fight. And Jackson has a lot of love in his arsenal.
Harper is kind and gorgeous and has absolutely faith in anyone’s ability to love him forever. Convinced he’s just damaged goods, he has reconciled himself into always being alone. He doesn’t want to be treated like he’s broken by anyone.
Jackson’s patience is amazing, as is his knack for figuring out how to always be on Harper’s side without making him feel coddled. It was lovely watching Harper thaw as Jackson did everything in his power to figure out how to make their relationship work.
These were very interesting characters that tackle a very delicate subject. The author did a good job of portraying the issues that someone with Epilepsy has to deal with just to get through life. Harper struggles so much to allow any hope into his life because he’s been taught to always be afraid.
Of course, have the characters from the first two books pop up is always lovely for me. It’s like a visit from old friends who are giving you a glimpse into their happily every after. I am also looking forward to book 4 because I think it’s going to be epic to be honest.
This does get a little bogged down in the middle, but it doesn’t last long. The writing is well done, the premise a little heartwrenching, which I love in a story, and the characters are relatable.
I really got caught up in this story and it was definitely a sit down and read till it’s done situation.
I have no problem giving it a hearty 4.25 hearts!
