When Rory moves up the mountain to live with the wolfpack he’s been supplying with food and necessities for years, he’s feeling a little… bereft. His dragon friends have disappeared, and his brothers don’t need him at their trading post. He tries to find a purpose, helping anyone who needs it inside the pack. And then an injured wolf he’s never seen before limps into his life, shot by either a poacher or a rival pack, and Rory knows he’s something special.
Fen is wounded in his heart as well as his body, on the run from wolves who broke up his small pack, and shot by an unseen enemy. When he limps into Rory’s life, he’s just trying to survive, but he knows he’s been given something special in Rory. He has a mate. Too bad he’s just a carpenter and not a growly warrior who can protect Rory from all the stuff that’s about to come down on the Uinta mountain pack. Can Fen and Rory make it work when the pack is at risk?
REVIEW:
Rory Calhoun is a character we’ve met before in the Dragon Sanctuary series. He and his brothers were friendly with the dragons who used to live on the mountain and supplied them with things from the modern world. As time went on, they all became friends and now that the dragons are gone, Rory has moved to live with the wolf pack that lives lower on the mountain. He feels comfortable and needed there.
When Rory comes across an injured wolf, he mysteriously can here the wolf in his head. His name is Fen and he’s been on the run until he’s been shot by the banished pack of Keegan and Jameson’s old alpha loyalists. Rory vows to stay with Fen. Then Fen tells him he’s his mate. That can’t be right. He’s only human. Or is he
Meanwhile Liam, Rory’s brother is determined to check out the Dragon’s lair. He considered them friends and he’s concerned. The bad guys are still out there though – and there is danger afoot at Naill’s compound and small pack further up the mountain. Oh and there are more cubs
This is a sweet start to this series and I’m interested to see where this goes. Everyone misses the dragons and there are questions as to what is going on with the veil. Also the mystery of who keeps shooting at the wolves is still up in the air. While there is a bit of a formula for these books, I enjoy them and find the wolves and the humans who don’t know exactly what is happening to them quite entertaining. Looking forward to the next book in this new series Fans of mpreg shifters will enjoy this book. Recommended.
