That cat is a liar!
The “stray cat” Junjie has been feeding and cuddling for months is actually an extremely rare cat shifter.
Of course, Leo would have preferred to continue their arrangement of Junjie feeding him choice bits of fish and rubbing his belly, but he needs Junjie’s help and that means revealing his secret.
An orphaned kitten needs a home after the fae killed his parents, and Leo is the most irresponsible, feckless, lazy creature in existence.
In short, he’s a terrible choice for raising a two-year-old cat shifter.
No. The WORST choice.
Yet, even after the little boy is settled with Junjie and the rest of the Zhang clan, Leo can’t walk away.
There’s just something about that sweet, bashful vampire with the too-soft heart and sexy eyes. And that kid is stealing chunks of his heart, too.
The war with the fae is about to tear the world apart and an old dark shadow has fallen over the Zhang clan, threatening to destroy them all.
Leo must stay to protect his new family. Even if it means giving up all his secrets to the vampire who is steadily stealing away his heart.
Two Thousand Shadows is the fourth novel in the Kings of Chaos series. This book contains a gentle, shy vampire who will stop at nothing to protect those he loves, a shifter with a secret, a nosy family who wants all the spilled tea, other non-human surprises, snark, angst, magic, found family, brotherly bickering, chaos, cuddles, secrets, and an endless love.
REVIEW:
If you have been following this series from Ms. Jocelynn Drake then this is the fourth book and it is our turn to get to know more about Junjie and Leo, the cat shifter who has been coming to the Zhang Clan’s house for many months now.
The Zhang Clan is the newest Vampire clan in town and they came to America to rescue their brother, Yichen, who was taken by the fae over a decade ago. When they were able to get back Yichen and Rei, the Elf Prince and Yichen’s mate, they are now faced with the responsibility of getting rid of the fae once and for all. With the help of the Varik clan, they just might be able to do it for good this time. In the meantime, the faes are widening their area of occupation by driving the humans from their homes and turning these areas into forests.
And adding to the complication is the return of their maker, Jiang Chong, who has only tortured them ever since he turned them into vampires. He can walk into the dead realm, much like Winter Varik, so that he can slipped into wherever they are and attack them without them knowing it way before it happens.
Leo St. George, the cat shifter, asked Junjie for a favor, actually he is asking the whole clan to take in a kitten whose parents got killed by the fae. Leo thinks he cannot take care of the young shifter as he cannot even take care of himself. Erik was welcome into the clan and doted on. But Leo keeps visiting to assist whenever he can, especially when the clan is trying to get rid of the faes for good. He has always been attracted to Junjie and that was one of the reasons he has been coming to their house all this time.
When Leo shifted for the first time, Junjie was shocked at how attractive he was and that he is a shifter. When Leo asked them to take care of Erik, Junjie asked Leo to tell him as much as he can about cat shifters so that he can also tell Erik when he grows up and starts to shift. Leo has been coming to the house to do that and also to spend time with Erik and Junjie. He is attracted to Leo but he doesn’t know how to go about it and what happens when the clan decides to go back to China already?
The clan is faced with two giant challenges, Jiang Chong and getting rid of the fae, led by their King, Trin. They need all the help they can get in order to do that. The Varik clan and the witches, the coven where Moon belongs, are helping them out. But it is not an easy feat to accomplish. They have been injured from time to time but still they continue to fight. They have to end this once and for all.
Thank you Ms. Jocelynn Drake for another well-written novel, it is amazing to read about this world that has vampires and faes in it, I have always been fascinated with the amount of talent and imagination that this requires. And Congratulations for another bestseller! I cannot wait for Xiao Dan and Huli’s story.
