BLURB:
Izzy King has a reputation. He’s the wild one. The fun one. The one who does what he wants. And if he’s a little broken under his fun-loving façade, well, that’s nobody’s business—especially not Split Rock Ranch’s long-time vet, Dr. Keegan Reid. That guy is the worst. Izzy keeps his distance—that is, until his boss decides they need to work together to care for a group of rescue horses. Whatever. Izzy will do what he does best and ignore the situation until it goes away.
Keegan Reid knows what he wants. He’s happy with his practice, his dogs, his cabin, and volunteering with the local animal rescue. What he doesn’t need is chaos—and Izzy King is chaos incarnate. Yet somehow, that doesn’t prevent him from picking up the verbal gauntlet every time Izzy throws it down. There’s something about Izzy that won’t let him turn the other cheek.
Izzy and Keegan might fight like cats and dogs—but everyone knows that high emotions often hide explosive chemistry. Keegan thinks they’d be a good fit if Izzy gave him a chance. But apparently, that old saying about leading a horse to water also applies to stubborn ranch hands. Izzy’s got a past that makes him prone to bolting, and Keegan needs to decide if he wants to tame another feral creature.
Something Unavoidable is book six in the Split Rock Ranch series. It includes an age gap, sass and banter, smoking chemistry, and two guys who don’t hate each other as much as they think they do. It can be read as a standalone but the series is best read in order. Look inside for important CW.
REVIEW:
Izzy is a brat, and he despises Keegan.
Underneath Izzy’s bratty exterior where he shows himself as a cool guy, always looking for the next opportunity for a hot encounter, you’ll find something completely different.
Keegan is the Split Rock Ranch vet. When several hurt horses need attention, Izzy’s boss shoves Izzy to Keegan.
“Look, you need the help, and he needs a project. Just try not to kill each other.”
Easier said than done!
Oh boy, Keegan wants to spank Izzy, because he’s really getting on his nerves. Why does Izzy always turn his words into something negative?
Working closely with Keegan sets Izzy on fire. Nothing can stop his urge to get over with it, a BJ should do.
On their way where they get closer, Keegan understands there’s something huge going on in Izzy’s life.
Keegan has some amazing dogs, one especially, Riley, a service dog who’s constantly attaching herself to Izzy.
Izzy suffers from panic attacks, sweet Riley is of great help.
But ha! Izzy is still a brat, still with needs, and wants them fulfilled by Keegan, he likes Keagan’s dominance.
“Baby, you never stood a chance.”
So far the short version. The long version is way more complicated and way more emotional.
That was quite an experience, and impressively written. The build-up of this story was perfectly done. It’s hard at times, and super emotional, it brought me to tears, but there are also easy-going times, and steaming scenes to find! Both main and secondary characters are lovable, (including the dogs and the horses). To be honest the whole series is wonderfully executed! The author did a great job!
