An ancient gargoyle. A hearth witch baker. They’ve always looked after others. Is it time to look after themselves… and their hearts?
Uzoth is the last of the gargoyles. He sits on rooftops as snow gathers on his wings. But Uzoth is used to the cold. He once had people to protect and brethren to stand beside, but that is all gone. Still, he continues his silent watch, wishing he had a purpose once again.
Strung-out and overworked, Grady is the eldest of ten children. Since his parent’s death, he’s dedicated himself to caring for his siblings and running the family bakery. He hasn’t had a moment for himself. Or for love.
One night, thieves attack Grady. Uzoth swoops in and rescues him. An unusual and tentative friendship forms between them. Soon, feelings and desires grow. Still, Grady has so much responsibility. Can he find time for a relationship with Uzoth? Or will he end up sacrificing a chance at love for the sake of others?
The Last Gargoyle’s Christmas Wish is a cosy fantasy romance with plenty spice. It features an ancient gargoyle, an older sibling who takes on too much responsibility, cosy Christmas vibes, inappropriate uses of a tail, and a guaranteed HEA.
REVIEW:
And FINALLY Grady gets his mate 🙂
All through this series, Grady, the eldest of a family hearth witches, has been the one to watch over his siblings – many times more than they would like him to 😉 But now Grady has someone to look after HIM!
We’ve seen Uzoth through the eyes of Grady’s siblings in their books. He’s always perched above keeping watch. Not we get his story. He’s been watching over this family for a long time. He’s lonely and wish that he had a real purpose for his life. But then, he sees Grady attacked by thieves and he saves the day. Grady is certainly grateful and they develop a friendship.
Grady feels he still has so much responsibility and so many tasks to follow up on that this cuts into any time he might have to pursue more with Uzoth. Uzoth has been on his own for a long time, so getting back into the swing being around more people is a change. Together they have to grow a bit to realize that they CAN have their own lives and happiness – together 😀
The timeline is overlapping with the other books in this series as the author mentions and it’s great to see events from the different POVs and especially Grady’s since he comes off as a bit overbearing in some of the other stories. There is resentment there from his siblings and he has to learn that he doesn’t have to keep being responsible for everyone as they are not adults in their own right with their own lives and relationships. It’s wonderful to see Grady get his own happiness since he definitely felt a bit overwhelmed and burdened with taking care of his siblings. But like any long-held pattern, it was tough to break.
I have so enjoyed this series and this is the perfect little nightcap to see the eldest sibling get his HEA too 🙂 This is such a fun series and I’m sad it’s over now. Definitely recommended. Happy Christmas/holidays to all!
