REVIEW:
I would first like to say that I found all the stories in this anthology to be very well done. Reading through them left me with lots of Christmas smiles. I’m only going to review three of them, in no particular order and highly suggest that you read the rest for yourself. You won’t be sorry.
Title: Christmas Pipe Dreams by Lark Taylor
Blurb: I’ve spent eighteen months trying to not fantasize about Owen. Every day, he comes into the coffee shop where I work and places the same order. And every day, I manage to make a fool of myself. When my kitchen floods, I have no choice but to reach out to Owen. It’s not like our small Welsh village is overflowing with plumbers. Especially not ones who are prepared to come out on Christmas Eve with a snow storm rolling in. To my surprise, Owen doesn’t hesitate to help. Without a counter in between us, he’s all the more tempting. My pipes may be fixed, but it leaves me with a whole other problem. A six-foot tall problem who is every inch the man of my dreams. Stranded at my house. With only one bed. Can Christmas fantasies come true? I guess I’m about to find out. CW: Brief mention of family estrangement due to homophobia.
This story is absolutely adorable. Awkward sweet Rory has a mad crush on Owen and because of that he can’t seem to speak a single coherent sentence to this lovely man. Rory is floored when Owen comes to help him out on Christmas Eve and finding themselves trapped by a storm is either the worst or best thing that’s happened to Rory.
Owen has been trying to get Rory’s attention for a long time but he’s almost convinced that Rory has no interest in all in him.
These guys seriously need to be snowed in together. It finally forces them to sit down and actually speak to each other and from there, anything is possible. I loved these guys because they are so sweet together and watching them dance around each other until they finally crash together is wonderful. Lark Taylor always knows how to write characters that are interesting and extremely likable. Their stories are always a good read.
Title: The Room I Paid for by Crea Reitan
Blurb: Pro-soccer player Gabe Zanderman fell in love with the wrong man and was then stood up, left alone on his romantic holiday for two. Eccentric billionaire Edries Franklin lost his kids in a messy divorce to a heartless woman and wants solitude for Christmas. They end up in the same mountainside cabin – just in time for a massive snow storm to strand them together with no way out. What a perfectly awful way to spend an already miserable holiday…
This one was really cute. Two men determined to be alone and miserable for the holidays (even if they won’t admit it) end up stuck together with no way to escape until the storm is over and the roads are cleared.
These guys are smart and hilarious and so much fun to read. I enjoyed the sass and snark very much and even though it was steamy enough to melt the snow off the mountains, it was just what the story needed. If ever there were two men who were made for each other, it’s Gabe and Edries. Great banter, even better chemistry with just enough sincerity to make it “awwwww” worthy. I couldn’t get enough of these two.
Title: Texas Snow by Kelly Fox
Blurb: My investigation was responsible for putting Jesse Travis in jail, and it’s safe to say he’s held a grudge. Things are bound to get interesting when he shows up at my place in the middle of a freak snowstorm, bloodied and half-frozen. I’m sure he’d love to kill me, but with his family after him for turning state’s evidence, he needs a safe place to weather the storm. That leaves only one question: However will we pass the time? CW: Brief violence, knife play, cop/ bad guy dynamic.
Rafferty is a man who isn’t really sure what he’s looking for, but when Jesse Travis shows up on his door out of nowhere, he starts to wonder if he’s found it.
The chemistry for this cop and the con he’s obsessed with is out of this world. It’s hot and sexy as hell, but has some really tender moments that leave you absolutely enchanted by these unlikely match men. I found myself cheering for Jesse and Raff to find their happy ending and it comes to them in the most unusual way. This story will leave you gasping for air for more than one reason.
This story is a bit of a thriller with some unexpected romance thrown in. I could have read a lot more about these guys.
