BLURB:
Falling for my crush at my ex’s Christmas wedding? Piece of cake!
Making the cake for my ex-fake boyfriend turned best friend’s wedding the week before Christmas was easy. Carting it halfway across England in the snow was not. Especially not when a blown-out back tyre leads to me coming face to face with my long term crush for the first time in five years.
I’ve known André since his days of boyband superstardom, but since I was supposed to be dating one of his bandmates, I was never able to act on my feelings. But now we’re both single and stuck in a hotel for the weekend with our interfering friends who seem determined to push us together.
But maybe André and I don’t need a push. Maybe all we need is a chance to see if the spark we felt all those years ago is still there.
After all, it is Christmas. And that means anything could happen.
REVIEW:
This is a super sweet Christmas romance, it has everything a sweet romance needs, a chance to act on the crush Luke has had on Andre for years. A fake ex-boyfriend getting married, picturesque snow-covered countryside, a spectacular wedding cake and meddling friends.
Luke is a former actor turned baker. He’s creative, passionate about his craft, and has a warm, caring personality. Despite his past in the spotlight, Luke is down-to-earth and dedicated to his new life as a baker. He has a bit of a romantic side, which is evident in his efforts to create beautiful and delicious cakes.
André is Luke’s long-time crush. He’s charming, confident, and has a magnetic presence that draws people in. André is supportive and understanding, making him a great match for Luke. He has a knack for making others feel comfortable and valued, which helps him connect deeply with those around him. After leaving the band Andre is determined to make it in musical theatre, he works long and hard to hone his craft, not content to rely on his fame to get him parts.
They both have careers that consume them, but maybe now is the time to put in some work on themselves and a spot of romance might be just the thing to kickstart their self-care. It was funny that no-one in the band realised that Luke and Eathan were fake dating years ago.
As they spend time together in a cozy hotel, Luke and André navigate their unresolved feelings and the interference of their well-meaning friends who seem determined to push them together. The story beautifully captures the magic of second chances and the possibility of rekindling old sparks during the holiday season. They sneaked around, not because they didn’t want anyone to know about their new relationship, but they didn’t want anything to take the shine away from Eathan’s wedding. I loved how brave and determined they both were that this wouldn’t be just a Christmas fling, but somehow despite their crazy schedules they would make time for each other and cultivate a relationship.
Together, Luke and André create a heartwarming duo. Their interactions are filled with chemistry, humor, and genuine affection, making their journey of rekindling old sparks during the holiday season a pleasure to read.
