Timothy loves his job work as Jake Bellport’s assistant. At a time when his life was in shambles, the opportunity gave him more than he ever dreamed: stable income, friendship, and purpose. When his boss buys out a hockey team, he thinks it’s just another day on the job. At least until they need a new coach — who happens to be the man of his dreams — walks through the door.
Given Timothy’s secret little side, he knows there is no chance he has a shot at more than a working relationship with Luke.
Luke is looking for a big change after losing the one person in his life who supported him through his hockey career. Not ready to leave the ice fully, he takes the job as the head coach to the Bellport Bears. It should be an easy gig, except everything that could go wrong does. Adjusting to his new life requires help from the adorable man who makes all his Daddy instincts roar to life.
When he has to step in to protect Timothy, he realizes there is no denying the chemistry between them.
This story features a little in hiding who is trying to get back on his feet, a slightly older daddy battling grief as he starts a new phase in life, and their whirlwind romance as they go up against the twists life throws their way. REVIEW:
This time it’s Timothy Jake Bellport’s assistants turn to find his perfect daddy and it turns out to be a former pro ice hockey player and the new coach of the Bellport Bears new head coach Luke Swift.
Timothy’s first memory is from when he was eight. This was when he lost his parents and found out what is was like to be loved by a parental figure his Grandad. As his Grandad becomes poorly many years later Timothy doesn’t cope well and after he passes away, Timothy finds himself loosing the house and without a job whilst also dealing with the devasting grief of losing his Grandad.
He realises he has to get a job and cannot believe his luck when he manages to become Jake Bellport’s personal assistant, a job that helps him let his little side a little bit.
Luke cannot face playing professional ice hocky without his Mum supporting him from the stands. The memories are too strong and the pain of her death too raw. Luke isn’t ready to give up being near ice hockey completely, so he takes on the job of the head coach of the Bellport Bears after the previous one retires. Luke’s Daddy side is desperate to takeover when he meets Timothy with his cure bowties and little tendencies, and he hates when he sees Timothy taking to much on.
What I really like is that Timothy and Luke understand each other’s grief in a way that someone who has never experienced it couldn’t. Not that grief is the main theme of the book at all. It’s about recovering and finding the person to help you be your best, authentic self whatever that is.
Whilst this book has been published as part of the DKAG Christmas Daddies series it is also part of the Bellport series of books. Whilst I do not think you need to have read the rest of the series, I do think it would enhance it. It fits quite nicely with Rushing Into Love which is set at the time and is the story of what is happening to some of the side character s in this book (Jake, Maddox & Leon)
