A wounded werewolf. A witch who nurses him back to health. What happens when the witch turns out to be the werewolf’s mate?
Hearth witch Briar has a tendency to care for wounded animals. But he’s never come across an injured werewolf before. Still, Briar can’t abandon a hurt creature, even if said creature is a terrifying werewolf with claws and teeth that could rip a small witch apart in seconds.
When Wulfric’s pack cast him out and attacked him, he fled. Bleeding and wounded, he caught a whiff of a glorious scent, the scent of his mate. He followed it to a cave, where he collapsed. When he woke, he found his mate caring for him. Wulfric is beyond charmed by the sweet witch.
But Briar is so easily flustered and blushes so prettily. And he has no idea that the werewolf he rescued is actually his mate. Will Briar accept him? Or will he reject Wulfric, just like his pack?
A Werewolf Mate for Christmas is a cosy fantasy romance with plenty of spice. It features fated mates, hurt/comfort, size difference, knotting, lots of werewolf cuddles, and a guaranteed HEA. This is the prequel to the An MM Monster Christmas series.
REVIEW:
Note: This series has books that overlap in a concurrent timeframe, so they can be read in any order without issue.
Briar is a hearth witch who loves nature. He has a cave in the forest where he loves to spend time. He keeps it decently stocked and he likes practice healing magic too. He’s very interested in many areas of magic so he’s studied various books and disciplines. He also has a soft spot for animals, so when he arrives at his cave to find a severely injured werewolf in his animal form, he can’t just leave him to die. He does whatever he can to try to help the wolf heal using the items he has to hand. He sends his familiar, a pigeon name Archimedes with a message to his family that he’s staying at the cave to tend to the “big dog” who is injured. He knows if he tells his family that it’s a werewolf, they will tell him he needs to come home and not take any chances.
He stays the night and does his best with the wolf. The wolf is clearly in pain, but he doesn’t seem to want to let Briar go, so Briar ends up falling asleep cuddled by the world. When he gets up to leave the next morning, the wolf tries to follow him despite his injuries – which is really a bad plan. If he doesn’t rest, he will do more damage that might not heal right. Briar seems to make himself understood and when he gets back later in the day with more food and supplies, he’s surprised to find a gorgeous man there instead. The man says his name is Wulfric and Briar is gobsmacked by the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. He’s also quite aroused by the man. He takes Wulfric to the nearby hot springs to help him heal further and while there, they cannot hide their attraction.
What Wulfric tells him makes Briar sad. He was attacked by his own pack and left to die. What Wulfric does not disclose immediately is that Briar’s scent caused him to fight to live and he followed that scent to the cave. Because Briar is his mate. Wulfric is surprised because he thought his mate would be another wolf. But he’s thrilled with the amazing and interesting Briar. Briar has always thought he was boring and puny and not worth anybody’s interest so he is shocked that Wulfric seems to want him just as bad as he wants Wulfric.
Wulfric has issues though being away from his pack and when Briar has to go back to town, he struggles again his negative thoughts of being alone. He cannot stand to be away from Briar and he’s going to have to come clean about their being mates 😉
Wulfric got a really raw deal! Attacked by his own pack and left for dead, it’s only because he scents his mate that he found the will to live. Briar is one of 10 siblings and he’s tired of being hounded by his overprotective eldest brother. He has different interests and he prefers to be out in nature rather than the bakery – which is a bit odd to the rest of the family. He made one mistake years before that keeps getting thrown in his face. He’s had it! But then Wulfric comes along and offers him a new path. It’s a sweet story with plenty of spicy moments. This family is having a wild holiday seasons with mates showing up all over the place 🙂 Hopefully the eldest brother will be next – might keep him from worrying so much about everybody else 😀 Recommended.
