Synopsis
Without trust, nothing is sacred. Not even long-held beliefs.
Oliver’s terrible secret is eating both himself and his would-be mate alive. He and Amir have been apart for three months, and absence indeed makes the heart grow fonder. Unfortunately, there’s terror, pain, and deceit lying between them.
Amir thinks purging and confession are medically necessary for spiritual and physical well-being. Oliver will stop at almost nothing to hide his scars.
Can these two be mated in truth or will Oliver’s past and Amir’s unstated fears push them away before the werewolves’ most sacred holiday, Winter Solstice?

“Let’s assume your precognitive impression is correct, and that there’s no way to change it, although I’d guess there might be a means of keeping him local. That aside, whom else do you trust to be with you while you’re delivering?”
Amaruq hesitated.
“Don’t think. Just answer,” Amir urged.
“Jeremy. Jeremy Redpath.”
That was the Tilthos pack’s beta, the one left in charge if Tilthos Charles and his mate, Luis, weren’t there. “Tell me why you trust Jeremy.”
“He was the one who got me out of my family situation in Anchorage, Alaska. He’s been supportive of everything I’ve wanted to do. When Nootaikok was asked to transfer to DC, and when he requested to come back here, Jeremy negotiated things with SearchLight and Tilthos Charles. Not that either the organization or our alpha would have said no,” he rushed on, “but Jeremy just sort of smoothed things out.”
“I’m glad you have someone to trust. I suggest you talk to Jeremy, but also to Nootaikok. Let your mate know how important it is for him to be here.”
Amaruq stood, wiped his nose with another tissue, and tossed the three or four he’d used into the garbage. “You need to get your doctorate in therapy too,” he said.
Amir shook his head. “Thank you, but I’ll stick to physical medicine.” After Amaruq had left, Amir wrote Carly a quick message. “Show Tilthos Charles into my office, please.” Then he closed the computer, returned the tissues to their place on the counter by the door, and left the room.
It was days like this that he couldn’t imagine leaving his practice so he could join his beloved in Washington, DC. Of course, there were also the nightmares he had about returning to the Kreisha pack.
Those were just foolishness, though. Oliver wouldn’t let anything happen to him.
“Damn it,” he muttered. “I can protect myself.”
