TITLE: Protecting Elijah: “His Obsession”
AUTHOR: Hera Abyss
PUBLISHER: Self published
LENGTH: 71 pages
RELEASE DATE: December 6, 2024
BLURB:
Babysitting the mafia boss’s son? Not exactly what I signed up for. But protecting Elijah? That’s a job I’d kill for.
Dmitri’s orders were keep his kid out of trouble. Elijah might be the boss’s golden boy, but he’s no innocent. With a smart mouth, wild streak, and a body built for sin, he’s every kind of trouble wrapped in one.
I expected him to be a spoiled brat. What I got was an untamed force who makes me feel like I’d burn the whole world down just to keep him safe.
But there’s a problem—my orders are strictly professional, and I don’t do “professional” well when the man I’m guarding is making me crave things I swore I’d never want. He’s got his own demons, scars he hides behind that bad-boy act, and I’ll be damned if I let anyone use him again.
I protect what’s mine. And now? Elijah is mine.
There’s no backing down, no playing nice. Anyone who tries to take him from me better be ready to face hell. Because once I lay my claim, I don’t let go.
They f*** with Elijah? They’ll learn the hard way what happens when a man like me decides to protect what’s his.
⚠️ Trigger Mention of past trauma, very graphic content and STEAM!
REVIEW:
Dmitri orders Conner to protect his son, Elijah, who is returning to live with him after he got into some trouble while living with his mom. Conner is one of Dimitri’s “employees.” This is a really quick read both in that the story is short and things happen very quickly within the story. It doesn’t take long for Conner to realize there is a lot more to Elija’s story. He is clearly not the confident, outgoing person he shows everyone, and this becomes more understandable as the details of his past unfold. When these two get started, it also doesn’t take long for the miscommunication and misunderstandings to put a wrench in things. They go very quickly from keep their distance to the lovey doveys before repeating the process when Dmitri finds out what has been going on.
I really would have liked to have seen this more fleshed out into a full story, slowed down a bit to allow their relationship to really grow and suck us in a bit deeper. But, what we got was a fun afternoon read with a little of everything thrown in to include a happy ending for all involved. I’ll definitely be looking for something deeper from this author in the future.
