Harvey Novak loves living in Christmas Falls. He loves his job running the Festival Museum too, except when it means he has to deal with his ex, who’s putting together the town’s newest tourist brochures. There are a lot of things Harvey is willing to do for Christmas Falls, but playing nice with the guy who cheated on him isn’t one of them. When a real-life Christmas mystery falls into Harvey’s lap, it offers the perfect distraction. And the guy with the mystery is pretty distracting too.
Sterling van Ruyven has come to Christmas Falls to look for his long-lost uncle, and enlists Harvey’s help to track him down. It’s all business—if there’s an extra van Ruyven heir out there somewhere, Sterling needs to know about it. He isn’t expecting to actually enjoy spending time in this ridiculous Christmas-themed town with the cute guy from the museum.
Their fun flirtation turns into a holiday fling, but that’s all it can ever be. Harvey’s heart belongs in Christmas Falls, and Sterling hasn’t found his yet. But maybe Christmas is the time for miracles after all.
Christmas Falls is a multi-author M/M romance series set in a small town that thrives on enough holiday charm to rival any Hallmark movie.
REVIEW:
Sterling arrives a bit unceremoniously in Christmas Falls during a snowstorm. He’s looking for a long lost relative after finding a picture in his grandfather’s office after his recent death. Sterling knows he’s been lied to and he wants to know why. The family business could be at stake if this relative reappears at an inopportune time. Sterling is also interested because the picture is of two men. Who seem to be more than friends.
Sterling’s approach to trying to find this relative is to start at the town museum. Harvey is the curator and they have some lovely banter as Harvey is excited about helping Sterling solve this mystery. Harvey also agrees that it looks like these two are a couple. Harvey mistakes Sterling’s reaction, but then confesses that he is gay but not out. Harvey’s had a “breakup” from a guy who actually was keeping him on the side 🙁 Not what Harvey deserves. It’s helpful to have Sterling around as a buffer. Sterling is more than happy to help. He finds Harvey to be a real breath of fresh air and the most genuine person he’s met in forever.
Of course their sleuthing leads to several dead ends and wrong turns. But they are really enjoying the trip. Then Sterling is called home without finding the answers to his questions. Or does he???
This year’s Season 2 is a winner! Every story I’ve read has just been a delight and this one keeps the parade rolling. Soooo much charm and humor. I absolutely LOVE Sterling and Harvey. I mean come one. Anyone who takes their sleuthing model from Trixie Belden has got to be a winner right? Sterling is nothing like he appears at the beginning of this story. The longer he stays in Christmas Falls and the more time he spends with Harvey, he more he realizes how unhappy he is back in New York. Harvey is a total sweetheart. What a generous soul he is. And of course the rest of the townsfolk in Christmas Falls live up to that small town hospitality as well. The only jerk is Steven! Luckily we don’t have to put up with him too much in this book.
Harvey’s grandmother was one of the best secondary characters. This whole town is fully of quirky folks who make me want to visit! And I loved the twist of the mystery at the end and the sweet found family that Sterling and Harvey embark on. Martha was a hoot too! This is quintessential J.A. Rock and Lisa Henry. Humor and heart galore. Throw in the fun of a town based on celebrating Christmas and it’s winner winner chicken dinner! Highly recommended for a good time, some laughs and a sweet and well deserved happily ever after 😉
