Hank Beaufort’s life is a mess.
Oh, he looks like he has it all together, but the reality is that he’s freshly retired from an unimpressive minor hockey career, and the ink is barely dry on his equally unimpressive second divorce. Now he’s the hockey director at the community center in a small town that treats Christmas like Santa Claus is real, and he’s not sure his new career is any more impressive than the last. As the new guy in town, he’d be lonely as hell if it weren’t for his dogs.
The one spot of brightness?
Scott Jersey, the adorably awkward single dad who brings his son to practice every week.
Hank’s not interested in a new relationship so soon after the disaster of the last one, but when doggy play dates lead to real dates, will he be able to set aside his reservations to be someone’s Christmas beau after all?
Christmas Falls: Season 2 revisits a small town that thrives on enough holiday charm to rival any Hallmark movie. It’s a multi-author M/M romance series.
REVIEW:
This series just continues to be an absolute favorite! I was so happy to see that there was another series in this delightful holiday themed town 🙂
Scott is a currently unemployed lawyer single dad. He’s got a bit of a crush on the man who runs the Community Center Hockey program. He’s a former minor league player and he’s got it all together – or so Scott thinks.
Hank has been in Christmas Falls for about 18 months and really only has made one friend – Josh Gilmore who coaches hockey at the community center. He’s noticed the hot single dad of Teddy, one of the 12 year old hockey players who happens to be very talented. Scott is adorable and also has a habit of sort of blurting things out 😉 Clearly Scott has no chill, which Hank finds quite attractive 🙂
Hank and Scott keep running into each other and then their booths are next to each other at the Holiday Market. Scott sells quilts while Hank makes dog treats. Both Hank and Scott are dog owners/lovers. Hank has three! Scott has one dog that his brother Sean got from a rescue and then promptly left the dog with Scott and Teddy and headed out without so much as a goodbye. Again. Scott isn’t too thrilled with Sean’s dipping in and out of their lives, but he’s really not happy about how it affects Teddy every time Sean takes off again and doesn’t stay in touch.
Then Sean shows up on Scott’s doorstep without any notice. He plans to stay with Scott but Scott doesn’t have a bed in the guest room – so it’s the couch until that’s remedied. But Scott has gotten fired from his job in family law (not that he’s exactly unhappy about that). He’s taking his time finding something new and he’s not excited about going back t handling divorces. It’s really sort of soured him on marriage. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t maybe want to date? And date Hank?
Hank’s got his own issues with trying to get a hockey camp going and dealing with his 3 much more successful older brothers – all of whom were NHL stars. They aren’t exactly close at this point and he’s tired of being the butt of their jokes. Their not funny – but a little bit mean in fact. *sigh* Both Hank and Scott have to figure out to renegotiate their family dynamics at this point. Oh, and maybe they do want to date, despite Hank’s bad track record of two divorces. But they need to take things slow 😉
OMG. This is an adorable story! I loved every single character. Even Sean and Hank’s brother grew on me. Teddy is a typical 12 year old and he’s a good kid. Scott is a devoted dad and he’s got a lot on his plate which he wouldn’t change. Both Hank and Scott are looking for their next act. They are building their futures one brick at a time. I loved Scott’s dad’s advice! Very astute! And the epilogue is fabulous. This is a super fun, sweet and steamy story with two guys who are perfect for each other even though they are imperfect. I loved seeming them embrace who they were individually and what they could be together. Highly recommended. Amy Aislin really knows how to write holiday stories that ring true! Loved it.
