Welcome back to the Skeleton Crew. Keep your knitting needles sharp and have a strong brew in hand for their next adventure.
Life for gender-fluid, autistic vampire Hyde Snodgrass has never been better. Her cosy village bookshop is thriving as is their new relationship with witch and taco bus owner, Teresa Vega. Autumn is in full magical tilt in their corner of the Scottish Highlands.
Everything is beautifully perfect right up until a tainted meal ends with Hyde sick and someone dead.
The police immediately suspect the restaurant owners. Hyde and Teresa find themselves drawn into yet another investigation, trying to save their friends from arrest and themselves from a murderer. The situation becomes even more complex when family feuds become tangled in the midst.
Can they find the killer?
Or will everything Hyde loves go up in flames?
REVIEW:
This is such a fun series! It’s a super fun and sweet and quite unique world this author has created. Hyde is a delightfully offbeat character who can’t help but try to solve the mysteries that occur around them. They once again seem to be collateral damage in the murder of a visitor to South Myrrdin. Luckily they recover, but another guest at the dinner at a local restaurant isn’t as fortunate. Hyde and their girlfriend Teresa Vega are sure that the police are questioning the wrong suspect.
As usual, the police chief vampire coven leader rubs Hyde the wrong way and they finally get into the reason why Hyde cannot deal with Pacheco. Despite the warning to stay out of the investigation, Hyde can’t help but be suspicious of the other visitors. When they think they find potential evidence, they do share it with the police. Mostly 😉
Strange and dangerous things keep happening though. And magic seems to be involved. And Hyde is potentially the target now.
The mystery here is well written. Teresa and Hyde’s relationship is chugging along and the rest of the little village are of course doing their best to help keep Hyde safe as well as the rest of the village. This little found family of misfits and foundlings continue to support each other as they work to live their happy lives in the Highlands. It’s a beautiful and wild environment and I can’t wait for the next book 🙂 Hyde is a one of a kind character and I love to see what will happen next! Recommended.
