REVIEW:
I’m enjoying the weird and wacky Rhubarb Shifter books, they are an easy fun read, very tongue in cheek. This book is a sweet and sexy, that explores themes of love, protection, and overcoming insecurities
Red is initially very afraid due to the threats facing their hometown, which makes him cautious and hesitant. Despite his fears, Red deeply cares for his community and for Gordon, showing his softer, nurturing side. As the story progresses, Red’s strength and resilience become more apparent, especially as he faces his fears with Gordon’s support.
Gordon’s lack of experience as an alpha is evident, but it doesn’t deter him from stepping up to protect Red. He is persistent in his efforts to prove himself and to win Red’s trust and love. Gordon’s primary goal is to ensure Red’s safety and well-being, showcasing his protective instincts. His interactions with the quirky characters and situations in the story reveal a lighter, more humorous side.
Together, their personalities create a dynamic and engaging narrative, blending moments of tension with humor and heartfelt emotion. Both characters struggle with expressing their true feelings and fears, which creates misunderstandings and emotional distance between them. They are hesitant to open up to each other and face their fears together.
As they spend more time together and face the challenges head on, they start to communicate more openly and honestly about their feelings and insecurities. This builds trust and deepens their connection.
The danger facing Growville adds significant stress and urgency, testing their bond and resilience. By confronting the external threats as a team, they strengthen their bond and prove to each other that they can rely on one another. This shared experience brings them closer and helps them to overcome their personal insecurities.
The book also has appearances by the characters from previous books both Rhubarb and Pack. The quirky residents of Growville, with their eccentric behaviours and dialogue, add to the overall humour and charm of the story. These elements combine to create a light-hearted and entertaining narrative that balances the more serious moments with plenty of laughter
