BLURB:
There’s no reasoning with holiday magic.
Jakob
Being a super genius should make life a sleigh ride, not a snowstorm. Jakob’s entire life has been defined by his oversized brain. When he finally breaks out of the ivory tower he’s been kept in, Jakob has plans to do all the things he’s been told are beneath his intellect. Step one? Deck the halls with his very first Christmas tree. He doesn’t expect to meet his future Daddy on the side of the road, but there’s no arguing with the magic of the holidays.
Reed
Being an ER doctor is an all-consuming profession, especially during the holiday rush. Finding a little takes time, and that’s something Reed has in short supply. He’s used to patching broken bones, not hearts, and the idea of Christmas magic seemed like a fairy tale. But when Jakob crashes into him—quite literally—and somehow jingles his way into Reed’s home and heart, it feels like maybe Jakob is right about being wrecked for the holidays.
This Daddy/little story includes a dash of glitter, visits with Santa, wrapping paper shenanigans, a boy who was never allowed to be one, and a Daddy who’s been wishing for a boy of his very own.
Reed and Jakob are an established couple in the Just a Little series and Almstead Island: Newcomers Club. This is their meet-cute.
REVIEW:
It feels like I have been waiting for this book forever!!!! In reality it’s only 5 months since I read Will (Almstead Island: Newcomers Club) where we first meet Jakob ,”with a K” and Reed and 6 weeks since I read the first one in Kerry’s series Just a little ( Just a Little Love) and got to know them even better, but I really, really wanted their meet -cute. I was not disappointed at all. I feel content *sigh.
You do not need to have read either series to enjoy this book. It is set way before the start of both of the series’s.
Jakob is a genius who has never been allowed to do anything apart from use his brain, So a month after moving out he is all set to have his first Christmas, complete with the tree he has just bought. Due to a moment of distraction he goes into the back of the truck in front of him, whilst driving home with it. Next thing he knows there is a divine man standing at his car window asking if he is ok and looking at his injured hand.
Reed an emergency room doctor doesn’t know what comes over him he goes to see the guy who got injured when he drove into the back of his truck. He just knows he has to say something to save this boy from his overbearing parents. Something about Jakob is just calling to him and his daddy instincts.
This was a really sweet Christmas book about a very inexperienced , sweet and maybe a tiny bit manipulative genius and the man that totally falls for him. It made me feel, warm , happy and very Christmassy. I really enjoy Kerry’s writing style which is very fluid and easy to read. I also really liked the glimpse of Beckett at the end who is Reed’s cousin and one of the main characters from the book Will mentioned above.
I am really looking forward to seeing more of Jakob and Reed in the other Just a Little books and maybe the Almstead Island :Newcomers club series.
