A chance encounter brings them together, but in a world of danger, it might not be for long.
When a blind date ends in disaster, Hector is about to swear off dating for good, until he sees a handsome face across a bar and changes his mind. A drink with a troubled man called Callum leads to something far more meaningful. After an instant connection, Hector offers Callum the chance to off load his problems.
But the night soon takes a turn for the worse. When they’re attacked by two men carrying knives, Hector is plunged into a dangerous world of vengeance and retaliation. His decision to stand by Callum puts his life at risk in ways he could never have imagined. Is he prepared to lose everything for a man he barely knows?
REVIEW:
I’m not sure that I’d call Hector and Callum’s meeting a “meet cute” but they are pretty darn adorable.
Hector is looking for something “more” in his love life but he’s not having any luck. A string of duds is not leaving him hopeful. Then he spots Callum across the bar.
Callum is too busy to worry about having a love life. Running a community centre is hard work but Callum thinks its worth it. But when Hector approaches him, asking if he’d like to join him for a drink, Callum just can’t say no.
The chemistry hits these two hard and fast…nothing like running for your life from knife-wielding bad guys to give you something to bond over. But honestly, they are cute as heck together and are definitely made for each other.
There’s not a lot of other people in this story…except the bad guys…so that leave Callum and Hector to carry the storyline and they do a pretty good job.
There’s nothing crazy here, no “out of thin air” twists, just two nice guys who absolutely deserve a happy ending trying to figure out how to get one. It’s not perfect. There’s a couple of plot holes that bugged me but all in all it’s a good little story with characters that are easy to cheer for.
It does have a little bit of gory violence, but it’s easy to skip over if that’s not your thing. It’s a little rushed and I would have liked to have seen the anticipation dragged out a little more, but maybe I’m a little picky.
It’s not a long story, a couple hours with a cup of tea curled up on the couch and you can finish it in one go…I usually do.
The pacing felt a little off, but that could just have been some of the formating errors in the arc.
All in all, good story, decent character building and just enough angst to keep you interested.
