Isaac
For three years Jamie has been my best friend, my roommate, and my wingman. We do everything together, and we live by one simple work hard and play harder. Everything was perfect until what was supposed to be a meaningless threesome between friends changes everything.
Now I can’t stop thinking about that night, and how I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I want Jamie, even if I don’t understand why. We might both be straight, but I can’t ignore the pull between us.
I don’t want to risk losing him, but I can’t keep pretending like nothing happened. And the more time that passes, the more I wonder if he feels the shift between us too.
Jamie
Isaac isn’t just my best friend and roommate, he’s the person I trust most in the world. We’ve been inseparable for three years, and we’re rock solid. Then a mutual ex of ours suggests we have a threesome, and what should have been a fun experiment between friends sends my life into a tailspin.
Now I’m seeing Isaac in a new light. I want him, and I don’t understand why. I try to ignore it so I don’t risk ruining the best friendship I’ve ever had, but that night awakened something in me, and the more time that passes, the more I think it also awakened something in him.
We’re both straight, but that doesn’t stop me from picturing my best friend on his knees for me. Or remembering how he looks when he comes.
Isaac and Jamie’s story is a double bi-awakening, best-friends-to-lovers romance featuring two roommates who might not be as straight as they thought. You can expect found family, best friend shenanigans, hurt/comfort, big Golden Retriever energy, some exhibitionism, lots of heat, tons of steam, and all the feels as these two clueless besties realize that sometimes what you want is exactly what you need. It is the second book in the exciting new Legacy Mechanics series but can be read as a standalone. ***Please note that the threesome happens prior to the start of the book and is completely off page***
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in this series and does have very minor spoilers for the previous book. That said, it can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Isaac and Jamie are besties, roommates and each other’s wingman. They have some common lovers in the past, but one night a threesome with April, a former lover who shows up to a party kindles a lot of new feelings for both Isaac and Jamie. They have both been straight up until now, but hmmmm. Seems the weren’t so focused on April but on each other during this encounter. They both try to play it off because they aren’t used to looking at each other that way. Pretty soon though there is kissing 😉 and then more.
Both guys are confused. Neither has ever done anything with another man. Now each is asking himself what is going on? Are they just confused? How did they not realize this before? Have they been bi all along but ignored it since they were both college hockey players? Are they just hot for each other? Luckily both of them have confidants they can talk to since neither wants to risk their friendship or roommate situation. They are each other’s ride or die and they certainly don’t want to mess that up.
In the meantime, while trying to figure out their relationship status, both men have external forces that are messing with their lives too. Isaac’s family are a nightmare. His parents divorced when he was young and neither parent has ever been very supportive. Their common mantra is that he is a disappointment and hasn’t lived up to his potential. He had a severe concussion in college from hockey and was advised to never play again. He decided to be a mechanic and he likes his job, his friends and his life. His father then drops a bombshell on him and so Isaac has had enough and tells him off.
Jamie’s stress comes from a toxic workplace at the bank. He got a hockey scholarship and went to college that way and has been working in banking which he really dislikes. Then they are announcing layoffs and he’s already been through it once. Now he’s on pins and needles again. He doesn’t want to rely on Isaac and his trust fund but he doesn’t have a lot of choices.
Eventually these two recognize what is right in front of them all along 😀 Needless to say, they were not the first ones to see it – which is very amusing 😛 Thankfully they are on the right path though with a multitude of supportive friends and family who are very glad to see them together and happy.
This is a very good best friends to lovers story. It’s bi-awakening with a LOT of discoveries and very sex positive. These two are kind of adorable in the way they aren’t sure how to approach each other or the new path they seem to be on. Isaac has a lot to deal with from his ‘parents” who don’t deserve him. Jamie is plagued by a toxic and unstable work situation. Together they support each other – first and friends and then as lovers who know each other so well. I chuckled at all the friends who figured them out before they figured themselves out. They are very sweet guys who deserve to be happy and to heck with the people who don’t support that. I also like seeing characters from previous books and series popping up in these stories 🙂 I’m looking forward to the next book in this series and there are plenty of new characters who needs their HEAs. Recommended.
