BLURB:
I’m being sold to dragon-country to be forcibly mated. Please tell me it’s all just a bad dream.
Akai is a set-omega, which means he has no inner beast and cannot shift. Considered worthless by his wolf pack, and with no individual rights, he is sold into slavery along with other set-omegas as they come of age.
He is purchased in a flurry of paperwork by Danon, a man with a white beard so thick and bristly, he looks like some sort of old craggy beast.
But things aren’t as they seem. Despite his fears, Akai is strangely drawn to Danon, who is standoffish but still polite, and in only a few days he finds himself entering his first heat.
This is book 2 of the Alpha Dragons series. All books in this series are standalone reads.
Contemporary omegaverse, alpha/omega, dragon shifter, mpreg/eggpreg, omega heat, knotting, opposites attract, age gap, size difference. This is a sold-into-brood-slavery tale turned romance where everything is consensual with a terribly sweet HEA.
REVIEW:
I really love Wendy’s omegas and this one was truly special.
Akai has been awaiting his fate every since the day he found he couldn’t shift and was pronounced a set-omega. Set-omegas are considered worthless to the pack and are sold for a pretty penny the moment they come of age. Dragons have very few omegas born to them. So the practice of buying the set-omegas from the various wolf packs and making them slaves to produce offspring for the Alphas is common place. But Danon doesn’t prescribe to such barbaric practices. When Danon is forced by their leader to chose one of the newly arriving set-omegas he is fortunate to be first, due to his age and financial status, even though they all know about his dragon and its unique difference. Choosing the beautiful omega that his dragon Dani thinks is pretty and smells good turns out to be good luck but can a forced marriage ever work?
I love that Akai never back down when he made a decision and that the two of them were not only compatible but eventually realized that they were True Mates. And that Akai accepted Dani. That was important to me in this story. Just like Akai was different in his pack, Dani was different to the dragons in their flight. But their difference did not effect who they were personally but caused judgement that neither of them subscribed to.
I am finding that I am really liking this series even more than I thought I would. The set-omegas are strong and vocal when needed and fall for their dragon mates against all odds. And the love and care that shines through calls to me.
