Two teammates whose lives were intertwined. For Kingston Walker and Hayes Garner, they lived and breathed hockey while also spending their free time together off the ice.
Hayes feared the day King found the person of his dreams, leaving Hayes alone wishing things were different. When King brought home Jamie Deary, Hayes knew everything was about to change.
Most people believed Jamie was a trust fund baby with no future. Late nights, parties, he lived the playboy lifestyle. With a successful father and a famous brother, Jamie constantly lived in their shadows.
King’s heart was torn in two. He loved his best friend, but now he had Jamie in his life; he couldn’t give either of them up.
Breaking through the bond between Hayes and King wouldn’t be easy. Maybe by the time all was said and done, the bond wouldn’t be broken, but reformed to include all three of them.
REVIEW: This story picks up where Devon and Lincoln’s left off – with the Jetties fighting for the Cup. They win, and this story rolls along during the off-season. Kingston and Hayes are teammates and bffs who live together. Hayes is the quiet one not needing or wanting the spotlight, and King is the more outgoing attention seeker. King is pretty open about his sexuality and has pushed his crush on Jamie aside, since Hayes believes he is straight when this story gets going. But, when King meets Jamie, things all change and Hayes is forced to take a closer look at his feelings for King.
You get the feeling early on where this story will go, you just have to wait a bit for the logistics to work themselves out. They go through a few bumps of who loves who and self-sacrificing for the other two by Jamie and Hayes with King left hanging, but King is successful fairly quickly in seeing the solution and then getting the others on board. They clearly all have great chemistry and it’s easy to see how they all work so well together. They each bring a piece of the puzzle to the relationship. I loved how they were able to foresee issues, such as Hayes and King’s schedules with the new season. Jamie has a few issues surrounding his actual career and his father’s expectations, but with the help of his men, he is able to stand firm against his father and really go after his dreams.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story. Looks like Jansen is up next, and I already have that one on my list. There isn’t much actual hockey played in this installment, as the guys are still in the offseason, but as this relationship was a bit more complicated than most, it felt right to give that more attention.
