Taylin doesn’t have a clue how the universe works, but he believes that given the right conditions in which to flourish, love can conquer everything. He is about to put that belief to the test.
Divergent. It’s a dirty word in society, and it’s also the reason those who should love him unconditionally have cast Taylin out. One act of bravery changes the course of Taylin’s life, and he counts his blessings every day.
Years later, his life is set to change once more when his adoptive parents announce they’re retiring, putting him directly in Hollis Adice’s path—Taylin’s one true temptation.
Only one problem.
Hollis has shown zero interest in him for five years!
Coming home, a change in dynamics for their working relationship…
Will it all lead to Hollis finally seeing what is right in front of him—Taylin?
Only time will tell.
REVIEW:
The relationship between Taylin and Hollis evolves significantly throughout the book. Initially, it appears that Hollis has no interest in him. Leaving Taylin to pine from afar. However, when Taylin’s adoptive parents announce their retirement, it brings Taylin and Hollis into closer contact, changing the dynamics of their working relationship. All the feelings that Hollis has been trying to hide and suppress come bubbling up to the surface.
As they spend more time together, Hollis begins to see Taylin in a new light, it was interesting to see how Hollis sabotaged himself, his head was in denial, but he knew in his heart what to do and what he really secretly wanted.
Taylin’s past experiences make him cautious and vulnerable. His bravery and resilience, developed from years of overcoming adversity, are both strengths and sources of inner conflict as he navigates his feelings for Hollis. Can Hollis see beyond Taylin’s past and recognize the person he truly is? It was heartbreaking to find out about Taylin’s back story and what he endured and overcame as a teenager. Taylin had an emotional journey, and it was great to see how he ended up being adopted into the family.
This dynamic adds depth to their relationship, making their journey towards understanding and love even more compelling. It’s a journey of emotional growth, understanding, and the hope that love will win.
I really enjoyed the two different group chats, one for the Omega’s and one for the Alpha’s they were so funny and exactly how you would imagine brothers and friends would be with each other.
I also loved getting glimpses of both their families the support and love that Hollis has in his parents who have always accepted him for himself. The way that Lane meddles but in a very quiet way. I laughed when Hollis and Taylin discovered that their parents had all been meeting up without them knowing.
It was also surprising that there was a gripping element of tension introduced when the brothers go looking at factories to produce their accessories. I wasn’t expecting this but it gave a nice counter balance to the sweet romance between Taylin and Hollis and it speaks to the Divergent issue within the shifter community.
The evolving relationship between Taylin and Hollis is one of the highlights of the book. Their journey from distant acquaintances to potentially something more is filled with emotional twists and turns which I enjoyed.
